Show me your kilt weddings

Selena, on March 3, 2019 at 3:09 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 17
FH is wearing his late father's kilt. Now he wants the groomsmen to also wear kilts. This is not at all what I had in mind... But rolling with it. So anybody want to share?

Also if anybody has a good source for children's kilt jackets, particularly grey ones. That would be awesome. They are proving to be a difficult item to source from a reputable company.

Is it an Irish kilt or Scottish kilt? I was actually married my first time in Scotland. I'm not sure if you will be able to rent kilts in the USA but you can buy them from companies like Atlanta Kilts. The dress kilts will need the proper socks, shoes, and sporran too. I'm sure it will look amazing!

My FH is Scottish. I am thinking about putting the groomsmen in a grey generic tartan to match my grey and navy bridesmaids. Which they can rent from USA kilt rentals.

FH's tartan is red, green, and blue.

My son wants to match FH. I would like all the men to have at least a similar jacket... But having a hard time finding what I need for my little guy, a similar grey jacket and vest set. Unless I order a jacket from Pakistan... Which makes me nervous.

But I really just wanted to see photos of kilt weddings, as I wrap my head around it.

My sister married a Scot, so all males in the wedding party (my father included) wore kilts. It was awesome! The other Scots wore their own family tartan, and anyone not Scottish wore my BIL's tartan. The wedding was in the US, by the way.

Forgot to add: FH’s tartan is the Black Watch tartan so our colors are based off that.

No pics yet but my fiance and I will be wearing kilts at our wedding in October and we are highly encouraging our attendees to wear kilts as well.

I actually put in a rental order for my father's outfit at www.kiltrentalusa.com

(They happened to be owned by the same parent company that my fiance and I bought our jackets and waistcoats).

They were very helping identifying the correct tartan and size etc.

As for the kid's jacket in gray, I haven't seen many that offered kids' argyle gray jackets. Maybe you can simply find the lil tyke a dapper gray waistcoat (no jacket) and match up the tartans, kilt hose, flashes, kilt pins and ties to your FH.

Feel free to reach out to me if you need help/advice etc. (Like the kind of jacket: argyle or Prince Charlie - kind of sporrans: formal versus semi formal, where to buy accessories without breaking the bank and more importantly WHAT accessories)

Oh and pics. I am definitely requesting to see pics of the matching outfits

We will definitely share photos afterwards! We have 4 men in our wedding. FH and my son will be wearing his family tartan, and the other men will match the bridesmaids. We are excited. Oh and our bagpiper/dj is wearing a kilt as well.

I love the kilts. I have to admit, I wish my husband was more in touch with his Scottish ancestry.

I am like you and trying to wrap my head around my fiance wanting to wear a kilt as well. It is not at all what I had envisioned. Any suggestions on getting past the thought of it looks like a dress?

Yeah I wanted the men in a nice blue suit.... Haha. I don't really know what to say about thinking it looks like a dress, because I never even thought that. I grew up in a town that has 2 pipe bands, so have seen kilts on men my whole life.

I don't know how I missed your message way back in April....our rentals are coming from kiktrentalusa.com as well. We ended up ordering a custom made argyle jacket from their retail store for both my son and FH. ($$$$$&dollarSmiley winking and a kid's kilt from a shop in Scotland, along with some other accessories. Son's kilt arrived, jackets should be here by the end of next week. ( Hopefully they fit...eek)

I bought my argyle jacket from their retail store in Scotland as well. Got it in a month ago.
The jacket was true to the measurements that we gave them. It’s really well made!

Am looking forward towards seeing YOUR wedding kilt pics. You’re almost a month before ours Smiley winking

Lol!!! If it looks like a dress then there may be two possibilities.
The kilt is being worn too low (it stops at the middle of the kneecap)
    or
He’s got the kilt on backwards (pleats go to the back)
