I have to be honest..until about 2 days ago, I was totally against doing a first look. Between lurking this forum and talking to my DOC, I am starting to change my mind!
So I thought it would be fun to see some of your first look photos!

I love first looks! This was my giddiest moment of the whole day, getting to see my soon-to-be-husband after us getting ready separately for hours. Photo credit: Julie Napear Photography
First look photos are my FAVE!! I don't have any to share yet but definitely recommend doing it! I have also heard that it helps ease the nervousness and I know it will for me. Excited to see all the beautiful photos!
We didn't do a first look, but we did the doorway shot instead. If I had to do it over again, I'd shoo absolutely everyone out the door first - my half of the bridal party and my parents were standing around watching - it made it just a little awkward.

^ I agree with what you said Zaz! I think a first look should be just the couple and the photographer! More intimate and special
@Rachel - that was my intention. But I mistakenly thought I'd have a wee bit more control over the moment and forgot to tell my coordinator ahead of time. My own fault. Haha At least everyone stayed on the other side of the room and let us have those few moments in semi-quiet.
I was a "first look convert" from hearing all of the logistical benefits of taking pictures before the ceremony, and now that we did it I can NOT imagine what it would have been like otherwise! It was so nice to see DH beforehand and it eases any anxiety you might be having!
Our actual "in the moment" first look pictures aren't my favorite, but that's because I'm sobbing to DH about our wedding being ruined by a hurricane (admittedly being very over-dramatic)!
These are beautiful. Unfortunately FH is dead set against a first look. He said though that he wants to do the between the door pic. I'm glad to know I need to make sure it's just FH me and the photographer.
I only have a black and white one at the moment, I haven't gotten all of my pics back yet, but I still enjoy it takes me back to the actual moment and seeing his smile after not seeing him all day was very comforting I also did one with my dad and he was in tears!!! Lol
Instead of a first look we did a "first touch" around a corner. it was really important to my DH to have that moment at the beginning of the ceremony so we compromised. I did "first looks" with my brothers and each of my parents and I can't wait to see those pro pics!! my brothers had me sobbing. here's a non-pro shot of the first touch
