Should I get Botox before the wedding?

LC, on January 27, 2011 at 6:03 PM Posted in Planning 0 10

It is 37 days away and I'm thinking about getting a Botox treatment. However, since I'm new in Florida, I'm not familiar with places where they give it.... In Texas I would go to a Spa and I liked the results but I trusted them. My fear is this, am I risking my face to look weird since the effects last 3 months? I guess Im being dramatic. I just hate the fine lines around my eyes and I'm only 32! Not fair!

Do you guys suggest any alternative or does anyone in the Miami area know a good spa place trusted for Botox treatments? Right now I don't have insurance so I cannot afford the offord an

I don't know of any in Miami, and the only one that I know of in Orlando did a bad job on a family member (was tearing pus!) I would suggest trying some vitamin E oil for a few weeks and see what you are thinking from there. I would be hesitant only because you may look back and feel like your face looks too frozen or artificial in photos. It like when you look back at photos from high school and are like "what was I thinking?!"

My derm only charges per vial and not for a visit and the botox. I would go on yelp and check out reviews if you go to a spa or a derm. I would only trust a derm with my face Smiley smile I do it about once a year and I love how it looks about a month afterwards - truly is a miracle. At 45, i need miracles!

And seriously, just looked at your photos. You don't need the botox, and that's coming from a stranger Smiley smile

Have you tried Estee Lauder's Idealist pore minimizer and their Deep Wrinkle Filler. THe filler is like spackling those wringles away. Honestly, I am 49 and they work wonders.

Would I do botox? I wish! I have a horrid smokers lines on my mouth.

    Good luck!

In order to avoid the frozen look, my derm is very conservative with mine. It nevers looks frozen or weird, I think that's a dr who is trying to get money out you by using more vials.

Maybe call some spas and ask for the 4 layer facial (its the one wear the last layer hardens on your face like a real mask). Try it now and then have it done a couple of days before. It is supposed to be amazing and firms and tightens your skin for up to 2 weeks. My spa charges about $120 for it, but the results are amazing.

Strike my first post. If you have never had it before, do not do it before the wedding. To risky.

Btw I started botox at 34 with some fine lines. I didn't really need it, but I will tell you it's preventive maintenance because it does stop the lines from getting worse. I think my wrinkles would be much worse without having it.

Ok, preparing to be flamed for this one, but hey I'm vain! lol

Along the lines of preventive maintenance:

    http://www.amazon.com/LANCOME-C-RESURFACE-MICRODERMABRASION-POLISH-RADIANCE/dp/B001GAGZ3O

I am a firm believer of surface damage/abrasion to the facial skin forces it to reconstruct. I have been doing heavy ex-foliation since I was in high school after finally resorting to accutane for acne problems...I don't have more than two or three scars left...and this was after my face looked ravaged from years of acne Smiley smile

BTW not sure if Lancome sells this still or if they discontinued it but as you can see amazon still sells it.
