Should I get a facial?

Kathleen, on February 1, 2012 at 10:45 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11

I have super, super sensitive skin, and I've never gotten a facial before. My skin is okay now, but could definitely be better. But I want my skin to look its best on my wedding day! Have any of you gotten them? Did you notice a difference? What kind do you suggest?

Yes. My skin always looks good for like a month after. It does break out for a few days in the beginning though. If you get one in the next couple months you have plenty of time to figure out if they are beneficial to you.

I know how you feel. I am in the same boat. Stuff like this make me break out, but I want to have good skin on my wedding day. I would test it out before the wedding see how your skin reacts. Don't do the first time just before the wedding.

Any skincare regimen should be started 5-6 months out (or more) from your wedding so that you can determine skin sensitivity or any reactions you may have. I applaud you for thinking about it. It will make a huge difference in your photos. Talk to an aesthetician (usually in the office of a dermatologist or plastic surgeon). They can evaluate your skin and place you on a regimen so that you'll have amazing, glowing skin. Be prepared for the transition time it takes for your skin to readjust.

I got married 2 1/2 years ago...I did it...my skin looked amazing...I think it's the best I've ever photographed (I don't like being on that side of the camera at all...I like my side where I'm capturing everyone else! lol). I highly recommend it!

Facials will make you break out at first because they bring any bacteria you have to the surface of your face. Its usually suggested to get a facial about a week before your wedding day. But if your worried about breaking out try doing it a few months before to see how long you break out for then schedule it before your wedding according to that. It will really help with your complexion.

I had my first facial just days before my wedding (I know it was stupid to get one so soon before my wedding but that was what time permitted) and I have to say it was the best thing I have ever done for my skin. I have super-sensitive skin on my cheeks and forehead, rosecea and tons of redness, but my nose and chin have blackheads. In that one session she was able to calm the redness on my skin and take care of my oily problems. Seriously, you have to give it a try. I rarely get breakouts so maybe that's why I didn't get any acne right after the session.

When I went she cleaned my skin then steamed it a small amount and took a magnifying glass to my face to really look at it. From there she designed a facial based on my skin-type. I was like you and saw that there were a few different facial options and had no idea what I should get but the right aesthetician should be able to look at your skin and know what you need.

    Good luck!

I'm thinking about getting a facial this weekend after I get my hair did. Go with something very light and gentle. That's what I was told.

I have had one once in my life. Part of gift certificate I got once..

It was crazy. My skin didn't really react badly for the most part except for the area on the sides of my nose. It burned so bad the lady had to quickly take the stuff off my face..

Ever since I have kind of feared getting another one..

It was just that spot around my nose. I think I have combination skin or something cause different parts of my face are more dry or more oily than other parts.

i was thinking about it a little recently though But It's too soon for me to do that I think..

This might be a stupid question, but where does one go to get a facial? A spa? Or what? haha

I go to a day spa and I can't rave about it enough! It has made a world of difference! Just do not get a quicky one like they do in the mall or anything... I tried that once and it was not a good experience! Pay the extra and go to a good place Smiley smile

I LOVE facials! I have super sensitive skin also, and am prone to breaking out, but as long as I tell the facialist about my sensitivity and break out problem, she can use extra gentle products and anti-acne products and I have yet to break out after one. Smiley smile And yes, I always go to a licensed spa. My favorite have always been aveeda spas, that use aveeda products, but that's just my experience.

I agree with Christina P. Go to a good spa. It will be more expensive, I think I paid almost $90 before tip, but I'm sure it was worth it. And, its nice to be pampered before your wedding, you need time to relax and enjoy yourself.
