Should I feed the videographer dinner at my wedding

vintagelove04, on September 2, 2013 at 7:29 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 12

I'm planning to feed my photographer and DJ since they are going to be at my entire reception however my videographer is only going to be at my reception for about 2 hour. I'm only having them for 4 hours total. My question is, do you think I have to feed my videographer dinner as well even though she won't be there long. I rather have her be walking around and videotaping some of the details ect while everyone eats since I don't have them for long.

Some specify this in their contract they'll request a meal or time to eat. Will there be two videographers?

Your contract should stipulate whether you are obligated to provide a meal. If it doesn't, then it's up to your discretion. Depending on budget, it'd be a nice gesture to provide a meal boxed up for him to enjoy after the 4 hours of videography are up.

Our contract doesn't mention it, but we are. I would.

I am a big advocate of treating vendors well, but I don't think so. Beverages, of course, but a meal? No.

I am but our videographer will be with us from 9 to 6. For our first look, getting ready, church, and of course the ceremony.

I used to be a videographer working 8 - 12 hours for weddings and other events and NEVER got a meal. I WISH I had been fed. The weddings were over $50,000 that I did so I know they could have afforded an extra plate but they didn't think to do it. Whatever their reason, I was always hungry and couldn't take a break. It was non stop work. I wouldn't expect it for 4 hours as it would be easy to eat before or after the shoot. But for 6 hours or more, it would be nice and considerate. It takes a lot of energy carrying around heavy camera equipment and tripods and being on your feet all day.

I think it's a nice gesture. We are offering to feed the 3 event coordinators, DJ and 2 photographers. If it's in your budget it's the right thing to do.

Yes. Normally the caterer has food for the vendors at a reduced rate.
