Should I dye my hair black for my wedding?

Lydia, on July 16, 2012 at 9:33 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 16

Here is a picture of me, and a picture of the hair (minus the flower) I'd like on my wedding. Go.

I am a big fan of natural.... I don't think you should dye your hair. It's beautiful the way it is!

Your hair is really lovely. It's going to make it really difficult to see any definition in your hairstyle if you go with black. Mine was black for 3 years and I loved it, but it was a LOT to keep up. When your hair grows out lighter than it is dyed (even if its only a few shades), it can look really weird...like your balding. Trust me! Not to mention getting the black out of your hair will cost you hundreds. I paid that price once, I won't do it again.

Please don't! You could try a semi perm darker brown though! That's what I'm doing Smiley smile but make sure you try it out before the wedding!

I agree. Black is a hard color to dye your hair and have it not look goth or unnatural. I'd leave it. Have you had your hair black before, and how black are you looking at?

Black is a very pretty color, It is a very harsh color though. Once you color it black, you won't be able to get the black back out. I wouldn't suggest it unless you plan on keeping it black. I have black hair, and absolutely love it, but I have also had black hair for about 6 years now.

Especially with that style, dying your hair black you will loose all your natural highlights and the style won't have as much definition. Having once dyed my hair black I can also tell you it is really hard to go back if you don't like it.

Rule of thumb is that you never try anything drastic before your wedding day. You really should look the most like yourself as possible

    NO! NO! NO!

Black is so hard to get out, and unless its natural, it absorbs the light and just looks dull...

I am naturally a lighter brown/dark blonde so I understand wanting a little more drama. I would however STRONGLY advise AGAINST black!! You can go a deep brown and achieve the same look you are going for I believe. Black cannot be dyed over and it requires to either be stripped or grown out to get rid of it, speaking from experience.

I was impulsive and did it, and will NEVER do it again. I do a deep brown now and its plenty dark for me Smiley smile

No. I would also try deep brown, even reddish or dark chocolate brown, but not black.

If you don't normally dye your hair, don't do it! You won't look like yourself, and I think the most important thing for a bride to do is to keep herself, looking like herself! I think your hair looks great as is!
