should I do the Venetian hour??

mrs_in_september14, on August 29, 2014 at 3:58 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 16

It would include:

Venetian Hour: 3 types of cake, 4 types of cookies and pastry, $7.44 total

Ohhh I am torn should I do it?? For those of you who had it, was it a success or did your guests not even touch it?

Well, that depends, $7.44 for all of that is a great deal, but I bet thats a typo Smiley smile

Real answer: I've never been to a wedding with one, but I'd rather have more apps or late night snacks than a bunch of sweets. I'm good with wedding cake and moving on. But that might just be me Smiley smile

FH and I have been debating on this since we booked our venue almost a year ago. A part of us really wants to do it... it would be a wow factor as my mother in law calls it lol. Only thing keeping me from getting it is the fact that it will pull people away from the dance floor for an hour.. I'm more looking forward to dancing, drinking and having a fun time!

Is that where they bring out a dessert table later in the evening?

I did that. It's pretty standard for the nicer events that I've been to. I expect there to be some sort of snack later in the evening, most likely desserts.

Stephanie-- It's probably $7.44 per person, which is actually still a pretty good deal (I think the closest thing my venue offers are three butler-passed mini desserts, for $15 pp).

Sorry I'm no help-- I could imagine people would LOVE this, but even still you will probably have a lot untouched.

No chocolate fountain included in that? I wouldn't just because half my guests are diabetic.

Nope no typo there 7.44 pp total, for $1.86 more pp (9.30 pp) I can include chocolate fountain with pretzels, marshmallows, rice krispie treats, pound cake and fresh fruit.

I thought it would be nice to have a treat later in the evening with coffee, people will work up an appetite with all the dancing!

what about this photobooth or venetian hour?

We are doing a full sweet and fruit table along with chocolate fountain and then a late night snack table of Chicago Dogs (our wedding is a Chicago theme). I'm very excited about them also because there will be so much food, I'm not as worried about extra appetizers or a huge wedding cake.

I wouldn't. Do a great cake, maybe a plate of chocolate dipped berries on each table.

When I go to a wedding it's all about the CAKE!! Cake cake and more cake! I wouldn't bother with other desserts if I had a good cake!

We're doing a full dessert spread. All kinds of treats. Comes with the catering package. Not everyone will want a piece of cake or even like cake. We're putting out boxes also so people are welcome to take home leftover food and desserts all they want!

If I'm at a wedding I want the option of choosing my after dinner dessert. I'm not always in the mood for cake.
