Should I buy Spanx to wear when wedding dress shopping?

I'm really concerned about my love handles because I'm always drawn to really fitted styles when I look at wedding dresses online. I want to have a beautiful silhouette in the dress, not a lumpy one. I'm wondering if I need some Spanx. I haven't tried on any name brand shapewear, but the shapewear I tried on didn't help with love handles except for this one thing that has boning and goes around your waist. The problem with that one was that it made my hips look huge in comparison. I'm just afraid that I'm going to be embarassed by how fitted dresses look on me during my appointment, but shapewear is expensive. Is it worth spending the money on Spanx? Also, does anyone have any tips on shopping for shapewear?

I had to know what I would look like in my dress in spanx so i bought some beforehand.
I found the spanx sizing and bought some on ebay because they are loads cheaper on there. I am so glad i did because i felt more confident in my decision in dress buying knowing what i would look like the day of with shapewear on.

When i went dress shopping they had me wear shape wear while i was trying on, so i knew what look best. Shape Wear is expensive, so if you want spanx i would wear them so you get the full effect!

Ross etc always have an assortment of spanxs, you could try them to get something cheaper

I haven't gone wedding dress shopping yet, so no pictures. I'm just trying to make the dress shopping as fun as possible, which means eliminating some of my insecurities. I'll definitely try some of those cheaper places!

Agree! I found something really similar but from another brand in TJmaxx and got the same effect for 12.99!

Monica, that's awesome! Hopefully I can find something similar. Some of this stuff doesn't seem to do anything for love handles, so it'll be a lot of trial and error.
