June 20, 2020 bride here. Like most in my predicament, we are planning to do a small marriage ceremony on our original date and the “wedding” a bit later. Here is my dilemma: my wedding dress is pretty formal ball gown. If we get married in our tiny living room, should I buy another wedding dress for the ceremony and save the original dress for the “wedding” down the road? cfb_1391227.jpg

This totally depends on what you want to do! I have seen Brides get married in everything from their full head to toe original planned look to getting married in matching jammies! This unique time we find ourselves in has truly shown what we can still accomplish most anything in any circumstance. If you want to wear your full look in your living room then I say go for it, even if you have to move furniture to do it. If you want to wear something else and save the big dress for the big party, then go for that too! It's still your day and your way!! Smiley heart

I was also a June 2020 Bride and postponed to December 2020, I feel you on this whole mess but hang in there!!

Hi, Nicole! I’d say the decision is totally yours. My fiancé and I have not postponed yet, but we decided to go through with the wedding and hold off on the reception if it comes to that. I bought a simpler “Plan B” dress to wear on the day of the wedding ceremony and still plan to wear my real dress on the day of the renewal/reception. I think it’s a matter of personal preference, and you’ll look beautiful either way, but I liked the idea of having two dresses. Best of luck to you!

I think you could do either really. I'm also debating wearing my wedding dress, or a more casual, cute little white dress I originally bought for the bachelorette (just a short, mid-sleeved, off the shoulder lace shift dress with a wide belt).

My wedding dress isn't a ballgown, but it is definitely formal (and heavily beaded) and I don't want to risk damaging it. If I did go ahead and wear it twice, I'd plan on saving the veil and fancy accessories for the postponed date so that it would still feel new/different/special.

I have a similar problem. My dress is a formal, lace, fit-and-flare style dress with a long train. If we have an elopement ceremony of any kind, I'm worried it will be impractical or that I will damage or dirty it before the wedding. I also really love the idea of surprising my man each time by changing up my look between our elopement and our wedding. However my FH really wants me to be in my wedding dress on the day we get married, so I think I'm just going to go with it and try very carefully not to damage it in any way before the actual wedding. Fortunately I got my dress pre-owned so it's not in pristine condition anyway.

I may end up getting an inexpensive second dress from Lulu's that I can wear for our wedding reception a year plus from now that way I can still wow him with a new look. But I do agree with the other posters that say most people never get to wear their super gorgeous and expensive wedding dress twice, so go for it, and consider it one of the only perks of having Covid-19 totally transform your original wedding plans.

I bought a simple inexpensive dress to wear for our small ceremony and saving the formal gown I selected with my mom for the big day. I still wanted there to be that wow factor. Your gown is beautiful.

Ofcourse it’ll be just as beautiful and special no matter what you wear! But I would buy a different dress for the ceremony you have for yourselves then wear this one on your big day. I think part of the beauty of a big wedding is the dress and the reactions of not only your groom but your family to you in it!

You do you girl, but you look fabulous! There's nothing wrong with rocking it for 2 days though 😉 or if you want to save it that's time too. Follow your own feelings Smiley smile 💕

I would wait personally.. so that you can enjoy wearing it for the first time on your wedding day and so that it could be a nice surprise for the hubby and your guests that day too.

Thats what I would do! Save the big ball gown for the big shebang and then get a less formal dress to wear at the small home ceremonySmiley smile
