Hello Hello! So ladies I'm in need of your opinion. I'm having a discussion with my bridesmaids on weather or not I should change my dress after the ceremony and get into something a bit more comfy for the reception.. what do you ladies think?

I'm wearing two dresses, but the one that I'm wearing to the reception, the simply, comfy one, is my dream dress. FH thought it was too plain, so I got a poofier gown for the ceremony with the agreement that I could change into MY gown for the rest of the evening. That's what I get for letting him see the dress. Anyway - I'm glad we'll both be happy, and both dresses, without alterations were $225 a piece, so not a bunch of money.

I'm wearing two. My ceremony dress has a ton of beading and I'm afraid of beads coming loose. Since I plan on selling it I don't want to risk it. I also didn't spend a ton of money on it (bought used on eBay) so "getting my money's worth" is not an issue for me either. I used to be a pageant girl and I have a gorgeous flowy white dress I only wore once for a parade that I'll be wearing for the reception.

Only if you have a comfortable wedding dress to change into could i see changing. if you are in pain, that would be different, but just to be really comfy, that's for evenings at home in your robe in front of the tv set.

I am having my dress made to ankle-length so that I can go from wedding, to garden cocktail hour, to reception and not feel hindered or need to change. But my aunt had a breakaway dress for her wedding, and the pictures of her leading a conga line in short white dress and veil are great! Whatever will make you happy that day and looking back on pictures, that's what you should do.

If that's what you want to do, go for it. I'm not planning on doing it, though. I paid a crap ton for the dress that I love (and I made sure that it was comfortable so that I wouldn't mind being in it all day). And people want to see the bride in her wedding gown at the wedding festivities, not just from a distance during the ceremony and a party dress for the rest of the evening.

I am wearing two dresses, but I have a good reason. The first dress is from the 1910's and I will wearing it for the ceremony and for part of the reception, but because it is so old, I am very hesitent to dance in it, so I am changing into a 1930's style wedding gown for this section. Neither dress was a lot of money.

I am not changing my dress and actually will be wearing mine twice!! We are having our ceremony and "formal" dinner one week at the church I grew up in and the following week we are having the dance reception up where we live. I plan to wear my dress for both.

I bought a second dress because going to the bathroom in this big puffy wedding dress in not going to be easy. I want to drink and dance and have a good time. I may or may not change but I have it just in case. All the money we spend on these wedding gowns we probably should stay in it all night.

I agree with the general consensus: where your wedding dress for both ceremony & reception. Unless you plan on wearing it again for your anniversaries or vow renewals in the future, this is going to be the only day where you in your wedding dress is the center of attention (I mean, you and your new husband are the center of attentions, hehe). Make the most of it & get as much wear out of that gorgeous gown as you can!!

My dress is HUGE so I'm definitely changing. However, I'm getting my reception dress made by a friend.

I'm putting my dress on at noon and won't be changing out of it until 9ish. I think that's plenty of time to be drowning in tulle.

I was actually considering doing the same thing. My wedding dress is very form fitting and the dance me and him and planned I feel like it might be a prob bc my dress doesn’t bend. I afraid I can’t do some of the lifts we have planned with my wedding dress on

No. Most women only get to wear a wedding dress one day so why not wear it as long as possible? Especially since they aren't cheap either.

I'm wearing two. My ceremony one is heavily beaded, it adds a lot of weight. My reception dress is pretty similar. Less layers and beading, same sort of off white fabric. Just so much more comfortable but still a dress I feel equally if not more beautiful in. Yes, wedding dresses are expensive but I feel as though I'm getting my money's worth even with two.
