I really like this idea that I saw on pinterest. I think I would set them out near the entrance of the reception area. They would be by the board that has the table assignments, instead of having the assignments listed on the toothpicks like in the picture. I don't imagine everyone would enjoy...

I don't imagine everyone would enjoy straight tequila shots, what would be your alcohol pick that would be crowd friendly? So far I've thought jello shots or a fruity something.

ETA: My venue allows shots, wedding is adult only, several bartenders will be on site overlooking the alcohol that is served.

Seems more appropriate for a bachelorette party, not a wedding. I'm sure my parents and grandparents would not be happy with being served a shot.

We did this for our wedding and we got so many compliments on it! People seemed to really enjoy it. We did shots of amaretto mixed with peach schnapps, with edible "shot glasses". I do recommend you have someone manage the table though. We had my husband's cousin and close friend pour the shots and hand them out to guests as they were entering the venue.

I've seen this with the champagne glasses too! Was thinking about doing that- but have to talk to my venue and see if it's allowed. shots might be a little aggressive but you know your crowd best!

ETA: just noticed @swissmiss said the same Smiley smile

Butterscotch schnapps is pretty tasty. Not sure if it counts as a shot, but it adds a little flavor instead of just straight alcohol taste!

I might be over sensitive bc I can't drink right now and don't like explaining why, but this might alienate people who can't/don't drink. Especially since it's their place card, so they sort of have to pick it up.

ETA I just noticed you said they won't have the actual place cards in them.

I think this is an awesome idea!! Like others have said, definitely know your crowd for this, which it seems like you do. I like the idea of champagne shots, more people would enjoy them I think. I personally am all about tequila, although not many are.

Let us know what you end up deciding!

Ooooh, I like this plan! My family would love it, it's most of our friends who aren't drinkers. Alas, the ship we're sailing on requested that we don't break out any alcohol until they're done with the cannon fire portion of our sail. Maybe we can have something like this set up at the reception restaurant.

Ok but seriously who would prepare all of those Jell-O shots? Never in a million years would I set myself up for that. Maybe I just really hated making Jell-O shots in college though...?

If you do this, I wouldn't do Jell-O shots.

Regardless of the drink choice I pick it will not be me, my bridal party, or family who sets any of it up. My DOC team sets everything up and all alcohol is provided and handled by a vendor.

Just think of how awkward it is for anyone who doesn't want the shot though. What do they do with it? Pass it off to someone else? Then someone gets super drunk in the first 10 minutes because they are taking shots for others? I am not sure how I feel about this. Our families are both heavy drinkers but we won't be having shots at our wedding, and I wouldn't want to make my guests uncomfortable by giving it to them right away. ETA- saw this won't be the place card, that's definitely better!

I think it's a great idea. I think the people that are disagreeing either aren't fun, or aren't reading your post correctly.

@FMG what's awkward about just...leaving a shot on the table?

@Macy that made me LOL, thank you.

@Orchids, right?? Just walk on past the table of shots. What would you do if the wedding was serving stuffed mushrooms as an appetizer and you don't like mushrooms?? Don't eat the damn mushroom.

I would recommend jello shots. I think I might be the one person on the planet that hates fireball.

I edited my post after I realized she wouldn't be using it as the place card. It would be awkward for me to have to pick up my shot, because it had my name and table #, and then explain to the people I was with that I couldn't drink it. If it's just a table full of shots, I don't care lol

I actually love it however I agree with some of the post above if someone knocks it over or if someone under 21 gets ahold of it

This is cute, but honestly I don't think people need any more encouragement to drink at a wedding.
