Short engagement?

raquel, on September 26, 2019 at 6:17 AM Posted in Planning 0 56

How long is your engagement? and what are your reasons?

Im having a 4 month engagement and a 150 people wedding.

Money wasn't an issue for us, our families gave us no choice and forced us to accept that THEY were paying for the wedding. My fiance and I want to be a married couple, I want to carry his name, and start a family soon, no reason to wait in my mind. We have known each other for 16 years haha but dated as adults for a year plus living together. So excited!!!

We have been engaged 6 months (16 more days!) And our final head count is 110 (originally invited 170). We decided on 6 months because we both want a fall wedding, we already live together and have a baby... why wait?

No reason to wait if you know what you want and can put it all together so quickly. Congratulations!

We've been engaged for 3 months and have 7 more to go! I wanted to have our wedding as soon as possible. In the past I had considered a 1-2 year long engagement but we're both doing well financially, we're ready to have everything in each of our names and start the house buying process, and we just can't wait to be married.

We were engaged 2 months and 2 days before we eloped. The big Vegas wedding was about 10 months from engaged to the wedding so it was pretty short either way lol

We were engaged for 44 days before we got married in a private DW and are now having a midsize family/friends wedding almost 4 months after that. We had been together for almost two years, already living together in our own house, and knew we wanted to be together forever. Plus, I wanted a fall wedding and did not want to wait until the following fall.

We were engaged about a year. I don't think there was any reasoning behind it other than the wedding date chosen made sense for his schedule

My FH and I will have a year long engagement. I would have been fine with six months but it would have made things tight to plan, and restricted things like the dress I wanted, which took 7 months to come in.

We will have been engaged 13 months by the time we get married. We only dated 2 months before getting engaged. There was ZERO doubt in our minds we were meant to be together, and five months after getting engaged, I'm still convinced my guy is 100% right for me. We are waiting as we save money and pay for the wedding... Are inviting about 125 people. I don't care if anyone shows up or not. Just want to marry my love! Congrats on your wedding! Smiley smile

We've been engaged for a year, and still have a year to go! We're both so busy, that planning for the 150 guest count has seemed very daunting, but by taking our time we've been able to plan and budget easier.

We have a two and a half year engagement, but we're paying for the wedding ourselves, have a lot of student debt, and are getting married in a HCOL area that's across the country from where we live. We needed a lot of time to save up and plan over a series of many trips to our wedding location.

No reason to wait! I'm too impatient for a long engagement. We'll have been engaged about 5 months before we're married. 30 person wedding, but we're paying for it ourselves.

We're also having a 4 month engagement. We own our house and already have a child together. We have been together for a very long time so didn't see a reason to wait. We are having a destination wedding so I thought the planning would be easy 😭 Kind of regret everyone having to rush to make travel arrangements and us having to rush with the planning. It has been stressful to say the least.

So far I have been engaged for a month!! Lol as for us I actually choose a long engagement. FH agreed with the long engagement as well due to the fact we wanted to pay for EVERYTHING. We are in the process of getting back on our feet and I also wanted to take my time and not rush into anything. This upcoming December I will have known my FH 4yrs lol I just didnt want to rush into anything and take our time planning. Believe it or not he is actually involved more than I expected and he does ask questions about this n that.

Our engagement will be 11 months in total. I wanted a shorter engagement, but my FH's job has him out of town currently during the week. He was due to be done with the project in October and expressed not wanting to get married, go on our honeymoon, just for him to go back out of town.. so we picked November to accommodate.... the job is taking longer than anyone expected and is currently on track to be complete in February.. needless to say our plan failed, haha!

I have known FH since 1999 (was my college sweetheart). After deciding to give it another shot (we remained really close after we broke up), we got engaged a little less than a year into it, and it will be a year from the engagement when we get married. While we know each other extremely well, there are still things we are learning, so I am happy we aren't rushing the wedding. We don't live together and we are celibate, so its about fostering the relationship and intimacy without the physicality of it clouding our judgment. We just started per-marital counseling which I think is great, since this will be my second and his first, and he has some unrealistic expectations of marriage that I think will get sorted out that would help us get better prepared for our lives together.

I'm 7 months into an 18 month engagement. We chose it this way for a few reasons: 1) I wanted to wait until after I finished university, which will be done in April 2) we couldn't save up the money in 6 months to have the wedding this year 3) we wanted to enjoy the time we're engaged 4) I wanted enough time so that we could slowly complete things 5) we enjoy having the wedding in August because we have a lot of teachers and students in our family that we wanted to make sure could come

    Hey!
We are at the 8 month mark.
We had a year and 4 months engagement, my choice.

I enjoy planning and decided to wait until next summer , because I want to enjoy the process.

I think, it's an individual choice.
    No right or wrong answer.
Congratulations! I myself, couldn't pull it all together that quickly, but, I place alot of unnecessary stress on myself.

I admire you for getting it done❤
