Shopping for Wedding Bands During Covid19

Mariel, on August 22, 2020 at 12:02 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8
Hello!

Hope everyone is staying safe and healthy during these times. I want some advice on shopping for wedding bands during a pandemic? We are living in CT and although some things have reopened not all jewelry stores nearby are open right now. Our wedding isn’t until next August but my FH and I would like to start browsing for wedding rings. Have any of you purchased rings through other websites that are not big brands like Shane Co, Brilliant earth or others? Major stores likes Kay’s, Hannoush and Jared’s aren’t open near us. I know we have some time but just want to see what’s out there.
We’re still planning ours for next August and we’ve had our struggles with vendors already filled up/not available.
Any advice would be a great help - thank you!

Jareds should be actually open by appointment. Call to schedule. They come out to meet you in the parking lot and then take you in to shop. But still not pushy-sales pressure and actually it's a cool experience to basically be the only ones in the store!

I am too much if a tactile person to online shop or have a virtual meeting to review rings. And especially if you are just starting to look and don't know style and budget. Smaller jewelers sometimes have more interesting items.
    Good luck!

You may be able to design/customize a ring online, and then when jewelers open, you can show them the print out from the website with the details of the ring you customized.

My best friend’s engagement ring came from James Allen.
I ordered both my FH’s and my wedding bands online through manly bands and Kay jewelers, respectively.
The only thing we did in person before covid struck was have my fiancé get sized.

For his band we went to diamonds direct, a couple different Kay jewelers, and Jared. He didn’t see anything he liked, but he got sized at every place. I ended up ordering his band off of blue nile.com. It just came in the mail yesterday and we absolutely love it.

That’s awesome! I showed him a few rings on Bluenile.com and he liked them a lot more then what was on other sites like Kay’s and Hannoush. How was the shipping and handling? If rings need to be resized would you send it back or are you able to bring it to one of the other stores to get them refitted?

Depends on the style and how quickly it will get to you. His took three weeks I think? It fit him perfectly, but he also went several places and got sized so he knew exactly what size to order. But if it is too big or small, you can easily take your bands to any jeweler and they can resize it for you. Usually can be done same day or in a couple days.

Some (although not most) local jewelers have a section on their website where you can look through products. A lot of them only have a small collection of images online and you can't click on them, but some will actually allow you to go through a larger collection of items of items they carry or can order for you. Here's an example from a jewelry store near me:

I had no interest in buying our rings online, but I wanted to know what we both wanted before going into a store. We ended up just getting silicone rings because COVID messed up our timeline, although we will get real ones at some point. If you're interested in silicone rings, either as your actual rings or just for exercise/travel/whatever, we're really happy with ours. They came from: https://ensorings.com/

I got my FHs ring from etsy. If you are unsure of sizes the company we ordered from had the option to request a ring size finder before you buy.
