Seriously need help!!! (Lesbian Bride)

Jade-Ashley, on September 15, 2017 at 2:08 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 20

Hi everyone

I am in desperate need of help with where to find a suit for my upcoming wedding. I went and tried on dresses and hated all of them which is now a problem because my wedding is 3 months away and I have nothing to wear. I am not super feminine but not really masculine either. My wife and I decided that I should wear a navy 3 piece suit with our bridesmen wearing matching vest and pants. The problem we're having is women suits don't fit my body and men suits look like I borrowed it from my dad.

I was wondering if anyone else had this problem or could provide any advice on what to do. Also what kind of price range should I expect?

Sorry for the long post.

I'd talk to a tailor and see what's easiest to alter to your body.

I would ask PrettyWitty&Gay (maybe put her name in your post title to get her attention). She just posted a thread about her FWs bespoke suit and it was fucking fabulous!!!

ETA: looks like we all had the same idea!! lol

Would having one custom made be an option?

I had a friend that got married in a fabulous suit, but she got it at Holt Renfrew. I believe that brand was St. John.

Also immediately thought of PWG's FW's navy suit. She also had some great tips in the comments for finding the right tailor, too

The place I got my dress from also specialized in bridal suits women. Maybe try to find a place in your area that can help you. I'm not sure where you are located but the place I am talking about is called Unveiled in Escondido, CA

My FW didn't want to wear a dress either. We found her a women's suit that she had tailored.

My coworker is doing the same but wearing black and her shape is hard to fit as well. I suggested she shop where she could buy separates. She had good luck at H & M.

My FW is going to Indochino to get a custom suit made! Not sure what area you are in but there are a bunch of them all over.

Hahahaha I saw this post and thought "ohh right up my alley!" And then came in an laughed my butt off at y'all calling my name.

Everyone basically covered it, but my FW got a bespoke suit made for her. It's a little more masculine of center, but that's because that's the style she wanted. The whole process took about 1-2 months. Where are you located, OP?

Also, suits take way less time than dresses, so I still think you can get something custom if you did it soon!

Thanks everyone for the help. I'm in the Tampa Bay area and was able to make an appointment with bespoke for tomorrow and called a few tailors to see what would be available in my area.

My advice is to call around to bespoke places and ask about making suits for women. My FW actually had many people tell her no or ask for hundreds more dollars. Make a list of the ones who say yes, but sound excited about it, no begrudging. From that list ask to see pictures of suits they've made. Pay attention to if they've made suits for people with not the traditional male body (football players, larger men, women) and make sure they fit as well as the suits for standard men. FW picked the guy she did because he had tons of experience with football players and knew he was used to making suits with non traditional measurements. It will be expensive, but less than many wedding dresses. AND you can re wear it.
