September 2020 weddings

Jessica, on June 22, 2020 at 12:35 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 9
Hi everyone,

Those of you that are having weddings in the next couple months how do you feel? I feel kind of bad for still having my wedding during this pandemic. I have cut my wedding down from 130 people to 80 people. Our venue is very open and has an area that is half inside/outside if that makes sense.

My best friend is having her wedding in sept too and she needs 100 person minimum [or she just needs to pay for that much and whatever amount comes, comes].

i'm not sure what her venue looks like other than the ceremony being outdoors.

personally, i'm a little nervous because she's not that mindful about precautionary measures it seems. and she has so many people on her guest list who need to travel - me being one of them along with her immediate family and bridal party. but just hoping for the best

I feel great actually. My FH got let go from his job and just a got a new one that he will be starting soon. My venue officially gave us the green light about 2 weeks ago. They had there first wedding this weekend. My friend actually was the DJ, from his social media posts everything looked fantastic at the venue. I'm just super excited to marry my FH. Yes my venue has some restrictions. But I'm to the point that I'm whatever about them. I will follow them and just enjoy my day. Time to stop living in fear.

I’m torn still and have to make my decision by next week when I would have to send either my invitations or postponement notice out. I feel bad having mine in Sept during all this and putting people at risk but also don’t want to wait a year because it may be the same next year. Right now I’m waiting to see what my venue’s guidelines are etc mask wearing and no dancing since mine is indoors. I think either way you do what you feel is right because there is so much unknown right now. Good luck!

I am actually feeling better about everything than when we started planning. We just sent out our invitations and have already gotten a bunch of responses (not a single no yet!), FH just picked up his wedding band, and we dropped mine off to get re-sized. We are so excited that we will be getting married so soon! Honestly, COVID isn't going to have much of an effect on our day because we were already having a small outdoor wedding in the first place. We may have a few more people than expected not be able to attend, which is unfortunate but at this point we knew that would probably happen.

I’m 9/6 in NY. I’m feeling a lot more optimistic than I have in recent months. Talking with our coordinator over the weekend went very well. We feel good about the precautions they’re putting in place. They’re going to have their first wedding in the next 2 weeks, so by the time mine rolls around I’m sure they’ll have everything running smoothly and optimal precautions in place. I’m sending out invites this week, so we’ll see how guests respond. I know a few people mentioned they won’t come due to health concerns, but we didn’t want to pay $$$ to postpone or lose all of our money.

I'm feeling great, just wanting it over. This planning process was hell before COVID-19.

You're not alone in feeling that way Jessica! But honestly we don't know how long this will be our new normal - so there's no guarantee that anything will be better even if you postponed a few months!

As long as you're taking all the safety precautions you can, and are understanding if any guests are not comfortable attending - then you definitely shouldn't feel guilty! Smiley heart

It's reassuring seeing people still optimistic and going with they're the big day as planned. My day is 9/26 and I just decided to carry on and ordered my invitations yesterday. I've got a large venue and they said my 120 count guest list would be fine so...I'm trusting that by then we'll be all set and we're just going to go for it!
