September 2019 wedding - what can i do!?

Anna, on June 9, 2018 at 2:03 PM Posted in Planning 0 12
Today is just dragging. I finished all my cleaning this morning, so now I just sit here bored. I have an appointment on the 19th to book my honeymoon. So far we have venue (ceremony, reception, caterer), officiant, photographer, and DJ. I plan on using silk flowers and creating my own bouquet and the baker we want doesn’t start booking until 6 months out. Sooo all that being said what can I do to plan? We’ve also already purchased save the dates, but obviously won’t send them out for several months lol

Start planning/diying your decor? It seems like you may have it all planned out, but when you start to decide what decor you need on what tables, and what pieces you have to make/vs buy, you’ll find things to do! Hahaha. You could always do some preliminary dress shopping too!

Thanks! I’ve been lurking and screen shorting a bunch of dresses and already made my appointments at two boutiques for September of this year. My venue actually comes with center pieces, but that doesn’t mean I can’t doll it up the way I want to. Thank you!

Even if they have centerpieces there’s still a ton more to decide!

What decor is going on your cake table? Guest book table? Welcome table? Cocktail tables? Food tables? Gift/card tables?

Are you havinga photobooth? What kind of guest book do you want? Do you want people to just sign something or leave messages? What kind of favors do you want to give out? Do you want to have a late evening snack? Do you want everyone to have cake or do you want to do a pie bar/doughnut Wall/cupcakes, etc? What kind of traditions do you want to follow? Which ones do you not want
to follow? Do you want to have a send off? Have you started looking into hair and makeup artists? Do you want to have a kids table? Do you want to have an open bar/beer and wine only, or a cash bar? Looked into hotel blocks for out of towners? Where will your rehearsal dinner be?

***please don’t feel like you have to answer these questions. I’m just trying to jog your brain to think of things that may seem on the back burner right now. There’s definitely plenty to do right now, just start really digging into details and making lists so you don’t forget anything!

This!!! I thought we were basically done when we had all the vendors booked. Nope nope nope. They decor took **** times longer and was **** times more stressful.

I’m talking all the little details like just this one thing:

Entree choice stickers—- from where? What symbol for vegan? What symbol for chicken? What symbol for steak? What color? What size? Will the servers be able to see them easily? Will they fit on the place card? Should they match the wedding colors? Or should they be more subtle to be less noticed? Should each be a different color from the wedding? Now that we picked animal shapes for the chicken and steak, is that actually appropriate or will it weird people out? Should we want them to be weirded out (husband is vegan and I’m vegetarian)? Now that we picked the stickers, how many of each should we get? Should we try to be more accurate to save a few dollars when we guess how the choices will pan out or should we order enough that we have the total guest count in each sticker?

And that’s just one (very minor) thing. Just showing how the smallest detail stuff can be the hardest.

I’m so not cut out for all of this LOL! Thank you for taking the time to share your experience!! I wouldn’t even think of what color the sticker should be! Right now I’m going through and jotting down questions/comments/thoughts for my venue and decor. As I look to both the posts and other areas my list keeps growing!

My wedding is September/2019 as well. What you can do is start organizing your ideas, look at bridesmaid dresses and DIY what you can from now. The time will go by fast

I’m getting married in September 2019 as well. I have my venue (ceremony, and reception), officiant, dj, my dress and shoes, bridesmaids dresses, grooms and groomsmen attire, and flowers. I have my table decorations picked but not together yet, engagement pictures this month. We felt so ahead and then we sat down and looked at the bigger pictures and feel like we still have so much to do lol. Congrats on your engagement!!

I'm also getting married September 2019. We have all my centerpieces done, decor done, booked the dj, the caterer, the venue, the photographer, the photobooth and officiant. I Also already have my dress and shoes.
    Next on the agenda is:
-getting FH to decide his groomsmen (he's been dragging his feet ugh)
-purchase the table linens, plates, cups and utensils
    -book Mariachi band
-make a shot list for photographer
I like to get everything done ahead of schedule lol.

Mines oct. 2019. We have everything done as well, i started my DIY signs today. Im constantly stalking the fb yard sale sites for things I can pick up and save a few bucks on. Also, we have a 160 person guest list so I have tried to start compiling addresses for all into my planner. That has literally been the worst to do so far. I have my baker and florist provided through my venue but i purposely made my appts for later in the summer for something to look forward too lol
