Sephora for Wedding Makeup?

Charlotte, on October 15, 2019 at 2:54 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 7
I'm getting discouraged and can't seem to find a makeup artist that won't do makeup for just the bride. A lot require a four or five service minimum and it's just me...that being said, has anyone used or thought about using Sephora or Ulta for their bridal makeup?

I’ve used Sephora for engagement pictures and other special occasions and while I generally would recommend their services, I wouldn’t use them for my wedding. The skill of the artists is inconsistent and you have no idea who you’re going to get on your wedding day. I don’t think it’s worth the risk. I know many MUAs have minimums to travel, but could you go to their salon for an appointment?

I would look at salons that offer makeup services, and you'd just go to them. I think ulta/sephora is fine if you know the artist and do a trial before.

Ulta now has the mac counter and can do an hour worth of full face makeup on you, you only need to buy is $60 worth of mac products. I did that for my engagement pictures and it turned out great. I bought the lashes they put on me, concealer and a lipstick for the pictures and was right at $60 before tip. Try them out they do a full face for the day, you only have to call ulta to book a time slot(ask for the best person they will always tell you who they think will do good). I never used sephora though. Also try to look into local hair salons that offer makeup services since you only need it for yourself but you will need a trail.

I used Sephora for all my wedding events. Engagement party, engagement pictures, boudoir shoot and bridal shower and I did not regret it! They have top of the line brands and with options for everyone but I don’t know how consistent they are with their skills. If you do a trial with one than artist might not be available on your big day and even if you request it it might not happened. They do have very skill make up artist but not all of them. I also used Mac a lot for special events and they never disappoint. They are better on eye work but face is not my favorite maybe because they only use Mac brands. Most of this artist do free lance work so I say go around and ask so they come to you.

One of my Hair Stylists arranged for my Make-up to be done at one of the counters in the Mall.

Although, I’m not really sure how my having to drive to the Mall for a free Make-up session is actually a 🎁to me. I had to take time out of my day and gas out of my tank to receive this “🎁”.

I had the same issue, but eventually found a woman doing just me and my MOH. This is after being quoted for a minimum of 5 people everywhere. This woman will do just a bride hair and makeup. I'm in Philly, FYI.

Keep looking while forking your plan B. Salons are good if you can find one nearby the venue maybe. That was my plan B.

Try Facebook marketplace in your area. I'm in several wedding groups and see posts all the time about people looking for makeup pros with tons of responses.
