Sending tip after the wedding

MJ, on April 26, 2017 at 4:58 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 10

I gave my day of coordinator envelopes to tip everyone ahead of time. I was expecting my photographer to come with 1 other shooter as the package stated but he ended up bringing 3 more shooters. I believe he was training 2. So that's a total of 4. I tipped him and the 2nd shooter. I feel terrible for not tipping the other 2. Also - my caterer was amazing! The owner was there all day and just very attentive making sure we had everything we needed or would go get us drinks. I didn't tip him! I totally forgot. I did tip each of the servers and bar tender. Is it too late to tip? I was going to send them a card with a tip in form of check. My wedding was this past Saturday.

We handed out some tips at the wedding but also sent out thank you cards to our vendors afterwards with tips included too. Our photographer also brought along an extra assistant that wasn't expected.

I actually think this is a better idea. You have time to write a little note and send it off rather than doing it in the heat of the moment.

And yes, it's never too late.

We tipped our vendors after the fact (other than hair and MUA) - I think tips are earned, not just given!

That was sort of one of my questions! How can I prepare tip envelopes to be handed out after the reception when I don't know the level of service they will be providing?

So it's not frowned upon if we don't tip the night of? I was also thinking about sending tips post wedding via mail

No one is going to complain about getting money in the mail. Smiley smile

Thank you all. Looking back I should have tipped everyone after the wedding.

Never too late to give a tip. The photographer may have had interns with them. When we booked ours, she said that she "may" have an intern with her, and if so, she would not charge us extra for a 2nd photographer, and that a tip for the interns was not expected (although, I'm sure any tip would be appreciated!)

I like the idea of tipping after the fact also. A nice card with the tip would certainly be appropriate *(and don't forget to rate them !!!)
