Selling Cancelled Wedding in Las Vegas, Nevada

We're getting married in Las Vegas as well. I've never heard of that anywhere before. I'm following just in case someone has. I know you said due to the virus but are you just not wanting to do it anymore or did you just find an alternative??

We just don't want to do the big wedding anymore as we aren't sure all our guests would come (strained finances, skeptical about contracting virus). The venue did reopen and they are doing events at half capacity (100 guests).
Instead, we are thinking of doing a small backyard wedding or just going down to one of the chapels to get married.

Our venue offered us a 30% refund or the option of doing a 'selling of contract'. Basically just transferring over our contract to someone else. So we would be responsible for finding a buyer and getting payment from them (to try and get close to what we already paid) and the venue would then have the new buyer sign that they are taking over the contract.
We paid for most of the wedding already so we just want something back. Probably closer to 80% of what we paid which would be a good discount for anyone interested.

Oh! I've actually looked into the before but it was a bit over priced for what we wanted. It's a beautiful place though. It's unfortunate that you're selling it but clearly for good reason. Can never be too safe. Do you have a deadline that it needs to be sold by??

2022 deadline to sell/have the event hosted.

They gave a deadline of 12/31/2022 to host the event.
It would have to be between now and then to find someone whose date fits in there.

We could still wait and have the event as we planned but I don't see myself being ok with waiting another few months or years since the wedding is overdue already
