Selecting a venue

Alisa, on October 18, 2019 at 10:41 PM Posted in Planning 0 8
We are getting married on 7/19/20. The venue I like is a historic bank in the downtown area of our city. It is beautiful with marble pillars, chandeliers, and large windows but there is no outdoor space except going out front to the street. The coordinator assured me that the a/c in the building works well. I am not really concerned about it being too hot inside the venue, but I am wondering if it will be disappointing that everything will be indoors during the middle of summer. Any thoughts?

As a guest I'd prefer it inside. I think outside is best for spring and fall when the weather is generally more cooperative and not hot and humid.

As I guest, I would not be disappointed! The venue sounds beautiful.

(I'm also someone who generally runs hot and my hair doesn't play nice with humidity, so I'm always thankful when at least one portion of a summer wedding is inside.)

Do you plan on doing everything (ceremony, pictures, reception, etc.) at one venue?

Ours will be indoors in the city as well. While our venue does have a couple balconies including one smoking area by the main bar, there’s not much outdoor space. I never thought of it being any concern for our August 2020 wedding because the venue is so beautiful inside.

Also, our reception will be in the evening, starting around 5:30, so people might not want to be outside when it gets dark and bugs start to come out. So if yours is similar, I wouldn’t worry.

That said, we do plan to do outdoor photos before our reception.

That's good to know, thank you! At this venue, we would do everything in one place, the ceremony and reception. I haven't thought about photos yet. There are quite a few beautiful historic buildings on that street and an outdoor plaza that are a few blocks away. I guess we would probably take photos outside.

That sounds lovely! I'm doing everything at one place as well.

A friend recently took her engagement photos in the city downtown, and they were very striking.

I don't think you have anything to worry about. Smiley smile
