second wedding/ vow renewal

Private User, on August 13, 2013 at 2:44 AM Posted in Planning 0 6

Ok so my husband and I got married almost three years ago and by got married i mean basically eloped. lol we always wanted to have an actual wedding but he's in the military and his deployment schedule made it difficult. Now we both have the time but im starting to wonder if we've waited to long. One person had told me its pointless to have a wedding if we're already married. Opinions please?

It would just be a vow renewal. And it is totally fine. You haven't waited too long.

DH and i are doing this. It is very common among military couples. Go for it.

Your "actual" wedding is when you get married, even if it was an elopement. if you want to have a big party afterwards, fine, but that doesnt make it "actual". dont mean to attack you personally, just around too many other military couples that are married but pretend to be engaged, i believe people should be honest and call it wht it is- vow renewal.

We're not pretending to be engaged. Weve been married for three years that would be a bit ridiculous. And personally i believe there is a difference between having a wedding and getting married. A wedding IS the party basically. It will be a vow renewal because thats what we're doing, renewing our vows. But at the same time we view it as the wedding we never got the chance to have.

Lol i used a wrong choice of words i was meaning like formal, lol idk why i couldnt think of that word last night! but i do agree on couples that lie about already being married. In my opinion its not good to start off a marriage based on a lie.
