Hello ladies, I'm considering doing a second dress for my reception and was wondering if anyone else was as well? If so, where did you get your dress?

Hello ladies,

I'm considering doing a second dress for my reception and was wondering if anyone else was as well? If so, where did you get your dress?

    Okay, so in 2016:

    1. 1 ring isn't enough, now it's expected to have a engagement ring AND a wedding band.

    2. 1 invitation isn't enough for an event, now it's expected to have a STD AND an invitation.

    3. 1 dress that you're never going to be able to wear isn't enough, now it's expected to have a wedding dress AND a reception dress / farewell dress.

    4. 1 dessert (wedding cake) isn't enough, you have to have a wedding cake AND have a dessert bar / candy bar / doughnut bar / sundae bar / etc.

    5. 1 food event (wedding reception ) isn't enough, you have to have a wedding reception AND a welcome dinner or post wedding breakfast.

At what point do we just say enough and stop buying into the propaganda that we basically need to buy double of everything for our wedding day? It's getting absurd.

@Rachel I don't think the majority of what you mentioned is "expected"

Its all preference. I didn't have extra dessert, an extra dress or STDs . But if someone wants those things or can afford those things, who are we to judge?

As for the rings... Engagement rings and wedding bands are different. But then again, I have heard of people not getting wedding bands and just wearing the engagement ring. You don't HAVE to do anything. Do your wedding however you want, and let others do it as they want.

    1. Not doing a wedding band

    2. did do save the dates, because it is a Friday wedding. they were inexpensive, as are my invitations

    3. one dress

    4. no cake, only donuts

    5. no brunch or welcome dinner, but yes to a rehearsal dinner

you do you. don't make ANY decisions because you HAVE to, make decisions you WANT to make. unless it's a dry wedding or hay bale seating. don't do that.

My sister did, after dinner and cake and first dances. I think she rented it from one of the sites like renttherunway. But it was very humid and she was in our mother's very hot gown, which I think had some polyester in the lining and came all the way up her neck. I've got a new gown and climate-controlled venue, and my wedding dress stays on all night! I do already have a short white dress in my closet from modcloth, but will wear it for the rehearsal dinner.

@BrittanyR, we are having an after party too! I did buy a dress for it. It's possible that I may decide to wear my wedding dress for that as well, but this dress will be useful for all kinds of events, I'm sure.
