Seating Chart vs Escort Cards

We are doing escort cards but our venue only offers buffet. We are having assigned seating purely because if a few family relationships. It's a fairly small wedding so we want to make sure everyone sits beside people they will be comfortable with. We are skipping the seating chart because it's a small venue and it won't be necessary.

I was going to do a seating chart, but someone on here posted a cute photo of favor boxes that doubled as escort cards and I decided to make those too. It was my only DIY project and I was happy with how they turned out. My friends loved them way more than I expected.

Thanks everyone! You definitely gave me a lot to think about. I really like the doubling up on escort cards and favors. @AMW thanks for bringing that up about the last min RSVP's reprinting of the chart, I didn't even think about that, you made an awesome point.

Escort cards! I'm actually really excited about mine. We're having a literary theme, so I'm ordering library cards and pockets. The pockets will go on the tables (we'll be having a plated dinner, so they'll need to sit in specific places) and the cards will be hanging in alphabetical order so they're easy to find. We'll have about 100-125 people.

@Caitlin I definitely think guests would be nebby (local slang for nosy) and check out where everyone else was seated!

We are doing a seating chart because it will be easier for us to create a seating chart than to have escort cards for everyone. We are creating one through Zazzle and we can't wait to see how it turns out.

We're doing escort cards because our venue requires them (so the servers can see everyone's meal choice).

I am borrowing a large frame and easel from FFIL (pro photog) and running wire across it. I'll hang the cards using mini clothespins. The names will be alphabetized to make finding them easier.

My cards will look like baseball game tickets to tie in some personal elements.

We're doing escort cards. TBH before hitting up the wedding blogs I never considered anything else BUT escort cards for table settings, but to each their own. We're big minor league baseball fans. so instead of table numbers we're using logos from different teams around the country.
