Seating Chart Large Wedding

Kaelyn, on June 17, 2020 at 11:05 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 9
So our wedding is roughly 260 people and I’m struggling to find something for the seating chart. I originally wanted to do window panes with names on them but I need roughly 33 tables so that is a lot of windows. What did everyone do for a large wedding for seating charts? Thanks in advance!

I would try to look on Pinterest. They have a ton of great ideas for pretty much anything. Here is an inspiration photo listed below. I searched "large wedding seating chart" and inspiration for many different themes came up. Good luck!

For a wedding that size you should alphabetize the names. That makes it a lot easier than doing it by tables.

I have seen people do large mirrors. Here is an example... Mirror Seating Chart

We did windows for our seating chart. You could still do this with a large wedding. Just look for large windows with several panes.

Thank you so much! Alphabetical would be so much easier!

When you alphabetize, did you just have your main invite and then their plus one right underneath that main person you invited? For example, my friend Kim and her boyfriend Justin directly underneath her regardless of the last name? Or every person is listed individually and not as a couple

I personally did not list every person because i also had 250-260 guests like you, so that would have made a far too large of a sign. i just said "Kim [last name] + Guest". people might say that's rude especially if you know their name but hey, if you listed every single name that would be sooooooooo many names.

That’s what I was thinking too. The only thing is my boyfriend is friends with a lot of people and then I’m friends with the girlfriends of them so how did you decide who’s name went on and who’s was +guest?

For that many people, I think escort cards would be a lot easier than a ton of people trying to crowd around one board. Escort cards are alphabetized by last name and married couples can be on the same card to cut down on how many you need. You can just grab the card and walk away and look at it again later if you need to remind yourself of your table number.

I agree that there are some big advantages of escort cards over seating charts. In addition to those mentioned by this pp, another biggie -- especially for a big wedding in a time of pandemic -- is that if someone cancels last minute it's WAAAY easier to make a couple of new escort cards than to have to re-do an entire seating chart. Escort cards give you much more flexibility if your attendees need to make last minute changes at the last minute. If they are alphabetized, it's pretty easy for guests to gab theirs during cocktail hour (and it helps the people like me who would look at a chart and then two minutes later forget what their table number was...).
