Scrapping the plan

Olusola, on September 28, 2020 at 6:33 PM Posted in Planning 0 3

Oh my goodness! I just scrapped a chunk of my plan for my wedding. This new direction I'm moving is a perfect harmony to keep both families and myself + FH happy. I'm so excited! I feel so grateful to God for giving me this idea Smiley heart

How many of you have thrown out wedding plans to implement a event that was a much better fit for you and your family?

We did that, our initial wedding plans included a B&B in Maine for our sunrise wedding, but with the uncertainty of weather in Maine in October we moved our wedding to the Keys in hopes our guests would turn our wedding weekend into the start of a family vacation or extended weekend.

And that’s exactly what it’s become. LOL our familymoon was only going to be my FH, his son and I and now our families are staying into the middle of our week familymoon. Oh well! It’s family and what better way to start our lives!

Original plan: get married in DH's childhood church. (He's Catholic, I'm not Christian.)

We did precana and everything. (Long story short, I was severely traumatized by it.)

In May, 3 1/2 months before the wedding, the priest, who'd been dodging us for a MONTH, told us no.

Cue panic. (And anger. And relief on my part. Oh, and discovery that ILs didn't care, *which would have been nice to know, but DH didn't ask*.)

So, yeah, we had to replan the entire ceremony - including location - with less than 4 months to go.

You know what I'm still smug about?

DH was *insisting* I order the invitations before we spoke with the priest. I resisted and said I wanted to nail down details with the priest first.

...I'm right, like 99% of the time.
