School Bus Rental

Rachel, on August 10, 2013 at 12:09 AM Posted in Planning 0 16

So I want to rent a school bus as a shuttle for my wedding guests. About 80% are from out of town. Our venue is kind of in the middle of nowhere so the hotel block is 30 min drive, and $70 cab ride for anyone not sober enough to drive home. Does anyone know of an affordable website I can rent a school bus from?

I assume that's something you would have to try to rent in your area. Try googling a rental place for where you live. Idk of many places that rent out school busses.

Maybe a Charter bus? I never heard of anybody renting old school buses. Or a van that will fit about 15 people?

I have looked into charter buses, I was doing some research online and saw that people said to save money to rent a school bus instead. Not sure where they found these great deals. Anyone every heard or used be my dd? I thought about renting a few vans and hiring them to drive them.

How many guest do you have? how much would it cost for you to rent a van at a car rental vs. having a van with the driver? Plus if you rent, they're certain things like it may not cover unless it's you driving, what if someone has a wreck you would be responsible for the damage of the van.

We rented a school bus, it was $325 for 4 hours and it'll seat 52 guests. Where are you located?

    Stretch Navigator

    Passengers: 20 on http://www.lspfun.com/limos.html

You can check limo companies... they usually have vans. I found some limos in my area for $90-120 per hour with a two hour min.

I would say we have about 40-50 guest who will probably need the shuttle. More if we include the people who probably wont be drinking. So far my charter bus quotes have been be ****. I am feeling a little guilty that all my friends spent a lot of money on my bachelorette party and will be doing the same to come to my wedding. So I would like them to not have to worry about finding someone to be DD or paying the $70 cab ride. I just have to convince my fiance we can find an affordable way to do so.

So far my one quote I got for renting two vans for multiple trips was about $1100. Renting two vans and hiring drivers for 9 hours will cost me under $500. They also have another service where at the end of the night they drive guests cars with them in it back to the hotel. I am not sure if the guests will be comfortable with a stranger driving their car.

Look under party busses and see if those would be more affordable.

Delta Charter Bus website mentions they rent school buses them in Northern California. I would request a quote and see what they offer. We went with the school bus because it was 1/2 the cost of a charter bus and it fit a lot more people.

In my area, school buses are rented by the same companies that rent other charter buses/limos.
