Scared of all the attention?

Mary, on January 5, 2017 at 11:31 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 60

Is anyone else scared about how much attention and emphasis is on the bride? I actually feel anxious when I think about the 100+ people that will be staring at me all day. I know they're all my friends and family, but I will still be nervous in front of them.

I really don't do well with public speaking, and the wedding and reception spot light reminds me of it.

Please tell me I am not the only one!

I'm a little worried about it too, but I'm sure it'll be fine! Plus I plan on having a drink or two so I can encourage myself to mingle and have fun while doing it Smiley smile

It's the main reason I was against a wedding in the beginning

This really freaks me out too! Luckily FH and I have decided to do a first look, so I'm hoping that calms me down some.

A married friend of mine was telling me how much love she felt since everyone was there for them. I'm hoping to have that same feeling to overcome the nerves.

I'm very stressed about that as well. So much so, that I had always figured I'd have a small, intimate wedding. Welp, my luck. The love of my life turned out to be one of the most out going, social men I've ever met.

I feel the same way! The first dance was bad enough and now FH wants us to write our own vows...I'm low-key starting to freak out!

You're definitely not the only one! I have a lot of anxiety and absolutely hate having attention on me. But between me and my fiancé, we have about 250 people traveling all this way to spend hours focusing on us. The thought of it just makes me want to skip the whole wedding part altogether and just go straight to being married! But I always find comfort in knowing I'm not going through it alone, that I'll have the love of my life and the man whose very presence calms me down tremendously standing beside me the whole way. And then I'm excited again about our wedding!

I'm there too. I'm extremely introverted and shy and I will be meeting friends and family of FH that I have never met before. This is the reason I'm not hiring a videographer.

I'm there too. I'm thinking the love I have for my FH will keep my attention focused when I walk down the aisle and when we say our vows. After that it should be a lot easier. First dance....I want people to join us part way through the song.

I hate being the center of attention so I am right there with you. Walking down the aisle and first dance = easily my nightmare.

FH and I are fairly private people so the thought of saying our own vows in front of others makes me really nervous. We're having a smallish guest list and I made it a point that we stick to only inviting people we felt comfortable doing this in front of. I keep telling myself that the most important part of the day is the ceremony and having our family and friends there to witness the promises we make to each other. At the end of the day, when life gets hard, I think that they will be the ones who help keep us on track to stay true to our vows and I'm so excited to share the day with them all.

I an petrified! Future husband does pretty well despite him being very shy with being in front of large crowds and being a focus. I on the other hand tend to have panic attacks shake and stutter lol. So it should be fun lol. I'm just trying to remind myself to focus on him and that it's a celebration of me getting to be with my best friend forever.

The only part I get nervous about is the ceremony. I get so tongue tied, palms get sweaty, and my hands shake REALLY bad when I'm speaking in front of adult crowds! Thank goodness FH will be able to steady my hands for the most part, although I'm terrified that I'll fumble/shake too much and not be able to get the ring on his finger! :-O

I get incredibly nervous even for my family weddings and such. I have found that sipping on Gatorade all morning helps me out a lot. I can't eat much when I'm nervous, so Gatorade really helps me keep my energy through all the nerve wracking moments. I'll have to sip some on my way to the Ceremony before I pop in my breathmint. LOL!

I am more nervous about crying uncontrollably during the ceremony! But I hear ya and probably if you polled a good majority of people feel this way.
