Thrift stores or borrow decor items-DIY what you can, keep your guest list small-under 50, look into local parks for pavilions to rent-most even include tables and chairs with the rental, locally owned restaurants are typically cheaper for catering vs big name franchises. Mexican, italian and even pizza are good cost effective food options. David's Bridal has great dresses for $99 and if you get a floor length dress, you can wear any shoes you want since no one will see your feet. Skip favors, programs, menus etc. Rent table linens. I know there are plenty of other ways but my mind just went blank lol

I use the app "Acorns" and it rounds up all my purchases then invests them. It's a super easy way to save that you don't notice month to month. I'd make a full budget with your fiance on every bill you guys have per month & your income, then see what you can cut to save money. Picking up extra things like babysitting jobs, uber, etc. can help too. Buy things during black friday for the sales!

All of the above plus if you have your ceremony and reception at the same location I highly recommend “recycling” flowers from the ceremony to the reception to save money.

When I got my first floral quote, my florist never told me that some flowers cost more than others. I had no idea what I was doing!
So, Lilly’s, hydrangeas, and garden roses are some of the more expensive flowers. I would ask your florist to incorporate flowers that are relatively cheap and can still deliver the same look you are going for! I definitely learned this the hard way. I would also recommend being upfront about your budget, that way the florist can tailor flowers to your specific needs without breaking the bank.

There were a few things that I knew I wanted to save money on, others I was okay splurging on.

As far as saving money, I got our save the dates, invitations, and thank you cards with envelopes for all under $200 from Vistaprint. They definitely aren't the most fancy invites, but they do the job. I saw it as well guests are going to have it on their fridge for a little while and then throw them out so why spend hundreds of dollars on them?!

Our DJ and Photographer have day jobs and DJ and photograph on the side, as a hobby, so that saved us a lot of money because their packages were super well priced.

We splurged on the venue, which I'm sure a lot of couples do! It has everything we want, it's our style and the package comes with food, 4 hours of open bar and they do all of the setup and cleanup.

Also try and shop for decor or anything else really during end of season sales. I found a majority of the decor for my centerpieces at Michaels and Joannes for 50% off!
