Save the Dates/Engagement Photos---Colors need to match??

No need to match. Take advantage of the fall landscape and wear outfits that will look good with the leaves.

I think save the dates are the part where you can be free and creative. They are the fun part of invitation. Once you're ready to send our the actual invites then you go more to your decor/mood setting direction.

Do whatever you want!

We took our engagement photos in late Spring. I wore an ivory dress with black stripes at the bottom and FH wore a light blue shirt with gray pants.

And we used one of those photos for our STDs.

Initially I thought of that too but they don't have to match! Your actual invitations can have that color scheme.

No need to match. But we did wear more coverage clothes (FH in a suit, me in a long dress) to signify the season and dress code of our autumn wedding even though the engagement photos were taken in May. The fact that our outfits did match our wedding color scheme was coincidental.

We matched ours, but definitely not necessary! Our wedding website does not have any hints of maroon, so we thought the photos would be nice on there.

You don't have to match your wedding colors or theme at all. I used my engagement photos to do something different than my wedding and show more of our style. It was super casual on the beach whereas the wedding is more formal indoors. We didn't match perfectly but the colors didn't clash either. I opted for solid colors and he had patterns. They turned out great!

Nope! I had not finalized my wedding colors when we sent save the dates, although we ended up going w ones that fit pretty well w our save the dates so we ordered the same pattern invites. But it was still tbd at the time!
