Save the dates

Emma, on February 5, 2020 at 9:29 AM Posted in Planning 0 3
So me and FH has decided not to do save the dates. All our family knows when the wedding is and most people are in town, except FH family. They live in PA, we live in NC. His family isn’t the, greatest, to put it nicely... anyways, we know for sure his sister and niece will be here. But now he’s stressing that everyone else will come up with an excuse not to come. I told him that we could sent out save the dates just for his family and my out of state grandparents. Then they can’t say “well we didn’t know early enough” “ we didn’t have time to take off work” “ we didn’t have time to get money saved for it”. The wedding is October 3rd, I could easily get them made and sent off by the 10th if February. When do save the dates normally go out? And is it normal to just send them to out of state guest?

I’ve received a save the dates from out of state relatives 10 months before the wedding. We all knew they only sent them to those of us who had to travel. Everyone was thrilled! I’m sure they will appreciate the effort on your part. I think your timing is perfect. Best of luck!

They typically go out 6-8 months before the wedding. It’s fine to send them to out of town guests only.

Hey there, Emma! This sounds like a great compromise.

It’s totally normal to only send save the dates to out of state guests. #According to this WeddingWire article (When to Send Save the Dates), for a destination wedding, couples should send their save the dates out eight to 12 months before the big day. If you’re planning a hometown wedding, four and eight months in advance is the best time frame.
