For family and close friends who you are 100% sure you’re going to invite, I think that’s fine. But I’d wait until you’re 6-9 months out for most people. Your relationships with people may change in a year and you don’t want to lock yourself in to your entire guest list that far in advance.

We sent our save-the-dates out so they arrived before Thanksgiving, which is 1 year away from our wedding date. We sent them out so far in advance because we get married the day after Thanksgiving and wanted to give family and friends ample time to plan for the holiday weekend with us.

    Hey Ashley Smiley smile

The best time to send out your save the date depends on the type of wedding you’re having (When to Send Save the Dates). Are you having a hometown wedding or a destination wedding?

Is there a particular reason you want to send them a year in advance?

I would stick closer to the 6-9 month mark unless you are having some type of exotic destination wedding where guests will need advanced planning to attend your event.
