Save the dates for postponed wedding... PLEASE HELP

Julie V., on April 25, 2015 at 10:36 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 11

My fiance and I had a wedding planned. We had already sent std's and then decided to postpone. We contacted everyone and explained. Now we have set a new date and are trying to decide if we should send new std's since our date is 7 months away and most guests aren't local OR if we send invites a bit earlier than normal... Ideas please

Do you have a lot of OOT guests? If not, I would just send your invites out early, unless a second batch of STDs are in your budget.

Hmm I am curious to see what people say about this. I would think just send the invites out a bit early and maybe call people now and let them know, I don't think you should be paying for a second round of stds.

At this point I wouldn't send another round of save the dates. I would simply send out invitations earlier.

99% of our guests are oot and not on social media. Also, most of them never have met me so I'm trying to make as good of a first impression as possible

I think that if you haven't met most of them and they will be coming from out of town, I think reaching out to them is essential. Either through phone or save the date. I know it is difficult when thinking of the cost but, if these guests are important enough to celebrate with you, they deserve a call or at least heads up.

Is the wedding in the same location? Because then at least everyone already knows where they are travelling to so it won't be a shock when they get invites. I agree with everyone, if you already told them that you are postponing the wedding, I would just send invites (and maybe send them a little early if a lot of people have to travel).

I agree with Celia and Ms. P to Mrs. P. Send the invitations early.

@JulieR...the wedding is a different location and in November so I'm kinda concerned with it close to holidays

FH and I had this same dilemma. We just let the news get out through word of mouth, and are sending out invites.
