Save the dates for October wedding amid Covid-19

Sherry, on April 20, 2020 at 9:57 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 2 10
I had our Save the Dates all printed up before the epidemic started. My wedding is not until 10/17/20 but a part of me is scared to send them out with everyone saying a second wave will come back in the fall. Should I still send them out??

You already paid for them, you may as well send them.

Hi Sherry, our wedding is scheduled for 10/16 and we sent out our save the dates pretty far in advance (before the holidays). Trying to stay optimistic that that weekend will be ok for both of us! I’d say send them out- you already bought them, and you of course want people to save that date fingers crossed! Good luck! 💜

I would say go ahead and send them out. You paid for them, may as well use them. I hoping everything will be okay for you by Oct. ❤

I would not send them. If your wedding can go forward as scheduled, you can still send invitations at the appropriate time. But the usual reason to send STDs is so people can make hotel and airline reservations. I doubt people are going to want to do that anyway right now. And if they did, and then you had to postpone, they'd lose out. So not sending STDs doesn't mean you can't have your wedding as planned if that's possible, but it does avoid a big mess if you have to postpone.

My wedding is 10.10.20, I am about to send them out in the mail this weekend. I did print out a little note and added it to each one. Good luck! I've decided that I will not worry or stress out about any of this until its closer to the date. If we cannot continue bridesmaid dress shopping until its too late, then off the rack it is! LOL!! But I was reading other bride blogs and most are suggesting that we continue to plan without guilt. Maybe not think about postponing until at least 1-2 months before. Hopefully by then we will have a better idea of our October wedding dates! My venue has sent out emails to keep us all in the loop. They are working with weddings as the dates come. For now, they are working with May and June weddings. They are very thoughtful in really being supportive with all the unknowns.

This is what we decided was best for our note...

    We are saddened
by the COVID-19 situation and all the chaos it has caused. We have decided to
keep our original wedding date for now. If the situation does not improve, we
may have to change our plans and postpone the wedding. Should this happen, we
will update you with the details. To make things easy, we provided our wedding
website and will be updating it with any further information we receive.

We're keeping our 10/9/20 wedding date and our 9/19/20 reception. We aren't changing anything unless we absolutely have to. But, I'm at more of an advantage because we locked in our vendors last year and we're just making payments, fortunately we don't have to go out and meet with anyone to continue planning.

We sent our save-the-dates back in February before this pandemic even hit. We were as much excited and knew our guest count was limited so we wanted to give everyone as much notice as possible. I already have the invitations sealed and ready to mail although we’re going to wait until the end of June to do so. Wedding is scheduled for October 3rd.

Yes, send them out! If we all do our part and stay home, the second will a) not be as sever as predicted and/or b) subside quicker.
