Save The Date vs Facebook

What are your thoughts on saving the $400 I am about to spend on Save The Date cards vs posting it on our Facebook and sending them to our Website. I would like to just save that and put that money towards the open bar.

I, personally, would not do STD's through facebook. If you are friends with more people on FB that you are not inviting to the wedding, it may cause some unwanted drama. I got 50 magnet STD's from 123print.com for $30 including the S&H.

My photographer include our STD with our package. we made extra copies at kinkos for additional guest. but it's good to send them out. we used facebook for our engagement party and found that some folks had taken a hiatis from using it. & it was har to keep up with who got the facebook invite & who hadn't checked it. it's a lot of work for follow up & i was saving that for the actual invites. :-)

Agree with the other gals, FB is a little tacky. And $400 is WAY too much! I got gorgeous STD postcards from Minted.com. This link will get you $25 off your order.

I got $25 off my order from someone else+free shipping code+ they sent me a 15% off code for leaving it in the shopping cart and not checking out for a few days. Total cost: $81 for 100 STDs! Plus, postage is cheap on postcards and I'm getting so many complements on them.

STDs are not a requirement. We got a FB invite that was a Save the Date, and it was perfectly fine. Whatever you do, don't make it public! Do a private invite- or just let word spread by talking to your friends.

But you certainly wouldn't want to make it public on Facebook, because people who aren't invited will think they will be. It will only cause drama.

Here's what I did on VP... I used both sides of my postcard and ordered envelopes with them and included a magnet... I don't remember what I paid total, but it was very little and would have cost even less if I hadn't uploaded so many pics, but I wanted them to be completely customized. There are many groupons available as well.. Most recent one I got was $17 for $70 and I purchased all of my invites & RSVPs with it!
