Save on wedding cake

Michelle, on April 15, 2019 at 5:16 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 51

My cake is four tiers and will cost $750. I knew walmart sold wedding cakes but just didn't really think about it. But I was in walmart today and I saw that I could get a 3 tier cake and cupcakes for under $200 I was like that's a $550 savings!!!!! But I would have to have someone pick it up. What would you do?????

I'm using Sam's for my cake/cupcakes. I plan to have them put each tier in a box and assemble when I get there so they don't fall or become lopsided. It's on the way to the location, so I'll stop in that morning and grab it on the way there... that's the plan at least. Worst case is I'll send my mom, aunt, cousin to go get it all.

A three tier at Sam's is like $70, plus $15 for 30 cupcakes.. way cheaper than bakeries.. and great for a more casual event.

I’ve also decided to go with Sam’s for the cake. It’s so much cheaper that way and it’s literally one light away from the venue. You’re more limited on designs... but the savings are worth it to me and I’m not a huge sweets person. We’ll have someone carefully pick up the cake and take it to the venue that morning.

Do it! If it fits your style and saves you cash, why not?

I'm using HEB here in Texas. We got a 3 tier cake for 200$ even. After our ceremony while we are taking our photos, one of my FH's cousins will go pick it up. Since it is an outdoor wedding, in May and in Texas, we have to pick it up last minute so it won't melt! Haha. But totally worth checking it out in my opinion! We were going to pay $135 for just a small wedding cake till we saw this.

We had a wedding cake from Walmart for our wedding and it was delicious and just as pretty as a cake from a bakery! Luckily I had a friend who very graciously offered to pick the cake up for me while I was getting ready on the wedding day. If you can find a way to pull it off I think it's a great option!

Sam's club! Everyone loved it and it was yummy. One of my bridesmaids (cousin) picked it up for me.

I say do it but also try to find two people, who aren’t you, to pick it up and set it up. My niece got hers at Walmart and I thought my sister was going to have a come apart trying to transport it there alone. I had to send my fiancé to help her because it was sliding all over her car. I had my niece (who was supposed to be the cake buddy) at the nail salon getting her last minute nails and it took way longer than expected. The cake was delicious and looked great.

My cousin had a walmart cake at her wedding last summer and it was a hit. The design was simple. It was frosted in light gray buttercream with purple flowers and I don’t think she had any cake left at the end of the night.

I’m using Sams for my cakes. I can’t fathom spending three times the cost and Sams cakes are delish!
