Same Venue as a friend?

Bobbie Lee , on July 22, 2018 at 3:42 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 9

Is it cheesy if I have my wedding at the same venue that a college friend is having theirs? Two of my bridesmaids will be at the wedding along with about 13 out of state mutual friends. The weddings would be a year apart...But should I keep looking? I love the place, but they got their act together sooner (planned with wedding less than a year from getting engaged). I on the other hand have been engaged for over a year.

I dont see a problem with that and you can learn some dos and don'ts from hers haha. I know tons of people that got married at our venue. I only attended 2 though, years ago

If you and FS love the venue, do it there. Don't let someone else's choice dissuade you from your perfect day.

I'm getting married at the same place as one of my friends. It bothered me right when I signed the contract but it doesn't matter anymore. Just make it your own.

I agree w/ PP. if you really want it there, I would do it. No one should care & if someone does read into it that much it’s kind’ve petty. You’re their to celebrate your union..not to compare weddings. You may even learn something or your friend can share do/don’t’s from her experience.

Thank everyone, this is very helpful! I think we’re gonna look at one more place (already scheduled the tour), then make the decision!

Same thing happened with me. One of my bridesmaids who got engaged after me decided on our same venue, but a year before us (literally the same weekend one year apart). We both are actually excited about it. She got married last month, and I was able to see things I like and didn’t like at her wedding that I plan to do differently at mine. It also is kind of a special thing to share with a friend. We will always have the same anniversary, just one day apart, and pictures from the same place. We plan to make a toast to their anniversary at our wedding too. What it boils down to, is that so many people get married and there are only so many options for venues. It doesn’t matter that more than one wedding happens at the same place, that day is about you and your future spouse, no one else.
