Salmon or Chicken

I haven't read the four pages of responses. I'm just thinking of receiving an invitation with menu options that include short ribs, salmon, and vegetarian lasagna. I cannot eat fish, and if you have met people who don't can't eat fish, they'll probably tell you that they have a violent reaction to it (for me, my body first rejected it -- in any form -- when I was two years old. I literally cannot be in a house where it is being prepared. The mere smell of it makes me sick. It often makes me wonder if I am processing the odor and taste of fish differently than the rest of the world). Ribs? Messy. I won't order them. Chicken? Thank you, hosts, for offering chicken -- in whatever form. If you go with salmon, I'll order the vegetarian lasagna (not because I want to, but because I have to). I know I'm in the minority, but we're out there. Chicken. On behalf of your "I hate fish" guests, I ask, chicken, please?

Everyone loves chicken (except a few people) so I vote chicken

Like some before me have said, short ribs are NOT messy. They are not like BBQ ribs. It's a totally different dish, eaten with a fork and a knife (not with fingers).

We don't have our tasting until this summer but we already have read through the menu options and we know we're going to get one form of short ribs (we have two options), a vegetarian and then we're debating between chicken and fish. So we're in the same boat @Precious!! We'll base it on how things taste though

Okay, maybe they aren't messy (I'll take Marion's word for it), but they do, like any other bone-in meat, take some work to extract the meat from the bone, at the very least. They are not the same cut of meat as a sliced roast beef, prime rib, or filet mignon. Just my opinion, but I'm still going to prefer a boneless chicken breast or vegetarian lasagna to fish (without question) or short ribs. Does it matter? Probably not. I'm not attending the OPs wedding or a wedding serving short ribs. If you're crowd is good with short ribs. serve them.

I would personally want the chicken. I don't like fish and I'm not a big fan of short ribs. I am a pretty picky eater though so that might just be me.
