Salmon or Chicken

Precious, on May 6, 2015 at 3:33 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 65

So we have narrowed it down to 3 meat options. We can only serve 2 meat options. I have my heart set on the short ribs. So chicken or fish? FH thought the chicken tasted better at the tasting, but feels the Salmon will leave a better, more expensive, impression on our guests. So since we are serving short ribs, as a guest, which would you prefer? Would you be more impressed by Salmon?

Salmon or Chicken Madeira?

*There is also a Vegetable Lasagna that is offered to guests as an alternative to meat.

I wanted to post this last night, but we all know how that was.

I would rather have salmon, but in general chicken is more popular (unless you live near the coast or something) so I would probably add chicken to your menu.

A lot of people don't like fish. I don't know very many people who don't like chicken.

We live in the SF Bay Area. The venue is about an hour from the bay.

I say fish b/c I know a lot of pescetarians, and if people eat chicken they probably eat beef.

So do you think people that don't like Salmon, will like the short ribs?

I would add chicken. I love salmon but I think most people would prefer chicken over fish. And you have a vegetarian option so you don't have to worry about that Smiley smile

I had the same dilemma and ultimately went with salmon. Pick what you like the best - it's your wedding!

I feel like salmon is classier, but chicken is kinda something that almost everyone eats so it might be the better option.

We had filet mignon and fish, so I'd say fish. Both were a huge hit. You can get chicken anywhere. SF would have great sea food, so I'd serve the fish. P.S. I hate fish.

I'm a big fan of salmon, but a lot of people don't like it. I would probably play it safe and go with the chicken.

I do, but then again, I'm so sick of picky eaters I can't handle it. We were told to add chicken, and a lot of people on here told me to add chicken, but damnit, we pretty much eat a chicken only when we kill on of ours, so... we didn't. And a beef option, a fish, and a vegetarian is more diverse in my opinion.

I really think if people aren't into fish AND beef (are there seriously people who ONLY eat poultry?) , then a veggie lasagna is great. But it just sounds more diverse.

I would say salmon, but I'm a huge fish eater. I know that chicken is probably a safer choice, but honestly I would just do the salmon.

Fish doesn't hold well, especially if you are having a buffet or serving a large number of people. Chicken (especially in a sauce) will keep in chaffing dishes while retaining taste/texture for much longer.

    Personally, however, I LOVE salmon!!

I would go with salmon because I love fish. Usually FH and I get one of each option wherever we go so we can try both.

We are having 4 different options. UGH! NY Sirloin, Salmon, Chicken Piccata and a veggie/gluten free option because people are legit annoying. FMIL said almost all of her friends are vegetarians or gluten free. Ridic in my opinion but whatever we don't have to pay extra for it!

Yes I eat beef but I would still choose chicken over salmon for my guests. We were lucky by being able to serve chicken, beef, salmon and a vegetarian dish so I didn't have to worry about anyone being unhappy.
