RSVP Reminders?

Private User, on August 2, 2011 at 3:39 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 16

Has anyone ever heard of sending out RSVP reminders? I keep hearing brides venting about only receiving 50% of their RSVP's back. So I was thinking of sending out reminders the day after our RSVP's are due if I still haven't received them all. But I've never seen this done. I can't risk having people showing up at my reception if they didn't RSVP. My plan is to replace those who decline with those on my B List.

(Continued) My plan is to use this wording if we have to send them:

We are so excited for our upcoming wedding Date! We can't wait to see all our friends and family and share our joy and happiness.

To ensure that we have a proper number of seats and food and that a space is reserved for you, we wanted to follow-up and remind you that we haven't received an RSVP from your household. If you're able to attend, we would LOVE to have you join us. But if attendance is difficult at this time, we truly understand. To make it simple for you, you have the option of RSVPing three ways: online, through our voicemail, or using the postcard previously mailed to you.

To RSVP via our voicemail, please call 1-925-***-****

To RSVP online, please go to: www......

We look forward to hearing from you!

Trust and believe that you will have to make phone calls to all the slackers even after sending a reminder. This is the part of the wedding planning experience that I hated to the core of my soul. LOL

    I'm glad that's over

It's a good idea to call those who have not RSVP'd ... but I wouldn't send out reminders unless it's via email...but calling is a good way to make sure they got it and to get their RSVP. Some people don't RSVP because they assume you already know they will make it.

I like it, however i would only send it via EMAIL, and if you STILL dont get a response CALL THEM.... i am NOT looking forward to this at all....but its a great idea.. might have to borrow it from you when the time comes

I think that's a great idea. I know how frustrating it can be not to get RSVP's back! It seems like such a simple thing and yet it takes ppl forever to respond. Anyway, I agree with Cydney- email is a great idea. You could even try an evite type thing which offers them the opportunity to just click & rsvp. Its nice bc it records the tally for you too. Good luck!!!

@ Sabrina, I love the EMAIL idea. It will definitely save on postage :-)

@ Cydney, It so drives me nuts when people don't RSVP because they assume you already know they will make it. But I'm preparing myself, I know its going to happen :-)

@ Vanilla-Nut, Congrats on your wedding and I KNOW you are relieved :-)

We will send out a bulk email to everyone who hasn't responded about a month out. We have an excuse - we'll be out of touch for a couple of weeks - so we'll just tell everyone fyi, direct any questions to X instead of us, and please remember that we need your response by X date.

I sent out on FB message a week (or two, can't remember) before our deadline, and worded nicely. I got a few FB replies with their RSVP's, some said thanks and that they RSVP'd on the website. Then a week after the deadline I called everyone and left a message, and if I didn't have a number I sent them a message on FB.

I love the e-mail, and definitely plan to use it for my reminder!! Thank you for sharing!

Do you suggest sending before the deadline, or after? I'd much rather get the info sooner than later, but don't want to seem rude. Our deadline is 8 days from today.

    So soon! :-)

Check out www.rsvpservices.com - they called them for us. We used them instead of reply cards, and they called our guests who didn't respond. We had 40 parties, out of 120 invited, that didn't respond by our deadline. When we turned in our count, we had an rsvp from everyone Smiley smile
