RSVP on Facebook

Is this a thing? Maybe I'm too old fashioned and out of the loop...

    Um, what are they RSVPing to? Your wedding seems to be in 10.5 months.

    Some people appear to think so, but those are the same people that know nothing of etiquette.

    This just seems like somebody who couldn't remember if they sent back their rsvp and wanted to make sure? I'd much rather somebody facebook me to confirm than just not confirm at all.

    No. This is not a thing. I would be annoyed. But then again, I'm old-fashioned as well.

    FH wanted to do a Facebook invite. I stared at him without blinking until he said he was joking.

    @Bex Yep, just publicly posted, not even on an event. The whole thing seems weird to me.

    Yeah it looks like they weren't sure if they sent the rsvp back. I have forgotten if I did something and when I couldn't find the paper just made sure.

    We got a few of these as well... At first I was annoyed, but by the end - I was just thankful they let me know.

    @snowqueen I totally understand if you need to double check to make sure you had sent an RSVP... but why wouldn't you do it in a private message?

    I know a lot of older people who don't know that private messaging exists or don't know how to use it so they post some pretty private stuff on people's walls. Was this an older person?

    I said this before: people I think do that to brag. Like heeey look at me y'all I got invited to a wedding.

    Lots of people know weddings can be expensive and they feel like they've been invited to an exclusive event and they want to rub it in other people's faces.

    Good point, Gym Rat. I know people like that on Facebook as well.

    @almostbach She's 24 lol

    @gymrat True true, I'm pretty sure that's what's happening. This bride also publicly posted her honeyfund to FB... I wasn't invited, but I don't think I would go even if I was

    I think it just depends on you. My friend who got married in July did everything through Facebook. She created a page and invited people, created posts to update everyone, had people comment any songs they would like on the playlist, and after the wedding everyone posted pictures taken at the wedding on the page. In their favor it worked out well.
