RSVP for 1's on wedding websites

Diana, on November 30, 2015 at 10:06 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 4

I have a couple of questions, I want to take advantage of vistaprints sale and would like to add our wedding website to the RSVP's. So

1) how do your guests' 1's RSVP on your wedding website (if you don't know their name)? I think it was weddingwire's site that says you add the couples name as Jane Doe and Jane Doe's Guest.

The knot has an option to include 1's to Jane Doe's name without having to go through adding a name. Which leads me to my second question

2) How do you allow families to RSVP if you're not sure how many of them will attend? For ex. If John and Jane Doe have 4 kids, and I am inviting all 6 of them, on the invitation I would address it to the Doe Family. So when they go to RSVP on the website, would I have to include all their names individually? Is there an option to RSVP for a max of 6 people?

3) Do any websites allow a cap on RSVPs? Or do you have to, after the fact, contact guests who RSVP for 4 people when the invite was only addressed to 2 & correct them?

Do my questions make sense? God, It sounds more clear in my head and it's Monday so, forgive me.

I created a website for both the knot and wedding wire, but for the life of me, don't know which one will make the RSVP situation easier. I just don't want a family to RSVP and only 4 out of 6 show up, or have someone RSVP for 4, when really it was addressed for 2?.......

I included each person who was invited individually. If I didn't know who they were bringing, I put "Jane's Guest" and had a message for them to include the name of their guest in the comments box. The website will only allow people in your "guest list" to RSVP on the website.

Edit to say I used WW's website RSVP.

    1. For a guest, find out their names. Call your cousin or aunt or whomever would know. If you're giving everyone a plus one then that's different if they could bring anyone and may not have a known SO.

    2. You can address invite as "Doe Family" but online list each name. Then they can option to RSVP for each person (4 yes and 2 no) & you'll know which of the 4 are yes. That will force them to only select from the 6 names, if you set those 6 as one party. If they type in any name from the party only the 6 linked names in the party will show up. However, on the knot RSVP tool they could go back to the main page and add someone individually buy hopefully they'll get it when they only 6 people to RSVP for. If they do add someone you'll get a notification stating someone not on your list was added. You can then speak with the person about the added guest.

@Faith, I guess I'll put a note in the comment box as well, that's a good idea especially for making placecards.

@NowASeptMrs, I am giving most people without a SO a +1, some of them, I know aren't dating, so I am not even sure who they would be bringing, so it's a hassle having to contact them all to figure it out, but it would at least give me an accurate idea of the #'s and names.

I think I might go with the knot, I like that it will tell me when ppl RSVP for more than put down.
