We sent out our invitations and RSVP cards but it turns out that my parents need to know who’s attending three weeks earlier than the date indicated on the RSVP card.

How would you handle it at this point? We can’t get around the new due date.

How would you recommend reaching out to people?

Would you explain the circumstance?

Would you request that they RSVP earlier?

What would you share with them and what wouldn’t you share?

Who said this is supposed to be a happy place? No one is being rude the OP is giving 50% of the information and is mad that people are asking for more. Its very odd actually.

One last thing - because I just can't help myself Smiley smile

I will not respond to trolls. If you have time to participate in 6000+ forums, I can't imagine that you're actually planning a wedding, or are even married.

But when your wedding actually is happening is pertinent information in regards to your invites and RSVPs. If your wedding isn't for another year plus, then you should not have sent out invites yet. I don't understand how hard that is to grasp.

We can't give you advice if we don't have the information and dodging the question comes off incredibly shady.

Actually if you had come out and said "yeah, I sent my invites too early, oops" we would have said "oops, well, too late to do anything about that now, so here are suggestions on what to do from this point." In general, people are much more likely to be receptive to you if you are honest and forthcoming about your mistakes...especially with wedding planning, which most people have never done before and have very few resources to know what to do and when to do them.

I'm not sure if you are implying that I'm a troll (or that I have no life or didn't actually get married???), but all I am trying to do (along with the many many other people who said exactly what I did) is help you. But one thing I will not do is get duped into giving advice based on partial information/context, when the full information changes the advice considerably.

The fact is that if you already sent your invitations and RSVPs, you will have to likely do a lot more work closer to your wedding date to make sure that people who RSVP'd in March/April 2018 that they would be available in June 2019 actually still are, and will actually be at your wedding so you don't end up paying for 200 no-shows. That is what I meant about your wedding being interesting. Re-reading it back to myself now I see that comment was likely read out of context if you weren't in my brain to understand my train of thought, so I apologize that comment came off the way it did, it was not my intention.

TOO MUCH DRAMA! Come on people, we're better than this!

Charlie, I would say just a phone call explaining what happened and what the new due date is would be a perfect solution. I would give them as much information as you are comfortable with... hopefully it is enough for them to understand what happened so they are more likely to respect the new due date. Mistakes happen, your friends and family will hopefully understand!

You are clearly new to this place...lol.... happy and helpful??? I took a break from this forum because the mean girls rule here and the admins are always on they side...lol I got called a snowflake so many times, and they love to flag me for calling them out. I just wanted to know why she sent them out a year in advance which is a very fair question.

Please point out the trolls. You think people just kick here to hear about other bride/grooms big days?

No one bashed or insulted you. You came looking for answers. People had clarifying questions. You chose not to answer. Seems sketchy.

Have a good day at work!
