Hey all, I'm hoping for some old time rock n roll song inspo from brides who used (or will use) classic rock tunes for all the different parts of your wedding day (your walking song, processional, recessional, grand E, cake cutting, first dance....or some of them perhaps?) I love old 60s & 70's...

Hey all, I'm hoping for some old time rock n roll song inspo from brides who used (or will use) classic rock tunes for all the different parts of your wedding day (your walking song, processional, recessional, grand E, cake cutting, first dance....or some of them perhaps?) I love old 60s & 70's tunes and while fiance does too, he also loves 80s hair bands as he was a drummer back in the day!) Please share songs you used from these genre's at your wedding, or plan to.....rock on!! LOL

    We used some non-traditional music.

    Bride processional: Something-The Beatles

    Recessional- The Shade-Metric

Family/Bridal Party Entrance: Home-Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes

    Cake Cutting: Best Friend- Queen

Last song: Safe and Sound-Capitol Cities

Our first dance and parent dances were more traditional

First dance: All of me-John Legend

    Father/daughter: What a Wonderful World-Louis Armstrong

    Mother/Son: My Wish-Rascal Flatts

My fiancé is a big fan of the 80's hair bands (and I am, too). Our first dance song will be an acoustic version of "Love of a Lifetime." We're still working on incorporating other songs throughout. We're considering "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" (the Queen version) for our reception entrance.

Come and get your love - redbone

That's our song! But we're having a pianist play tons of oldies since we love them! As a couple we've seen van Halen and acdc twice !

    I will be walking to

"Patience" intro by Guns N Roses. (Sums up the begining of our relationship)

Our first dance together will be

"Baby, I Love You" by The Ramones

    Mother son dance is

    "Simple Man" by Lynyrd Skynyrd

End of ceremony is "Please Don't touch" by Motorhead & Girlschool

    Still thinking of the others..

But for cocktail hr we'll be playing some good old rock n roll. Wanda Jackson, Eddie Cochran, Johnny Burnette, Johnny Cash.. while throwing in some honky tonk, Hank Williams, Hasil Adkins, David Allen Coe, Waylon Jennings (may be different than the norm.. but so suits us)

That's all we have so far.

We used the instrumental or orchestra covers of; All you need is love by The Beatles, Nothing Else Matters by Metallica, You Shook Me All Night Long by AC/DC, Sweet Child O Mine by Guns N Roses, November Rain by Guns N Roses, My Immortal by Evanescense, Never Gonna Be Alone by Nickelback. Then for our song after the ceremony we used the original version of Amber by 311. Our first dance was to Love Will Keep Us Alive by the Eagles. ETA - We also used the instrumental of Smooth Criminal by Micheal Jackson and Purple Rain by Prince.

My father and I agreed to have our father daughter dance to a cover of Sweet Child O' Mine (jasmine thompson). Not quite rock n roll anymore then, but still.

Also, going to older music our first dance will be to Stand By Me by Ben E. King.

We have a range of music interests. We are going to use some Beatles songs, Grateful Dead, etc. I'm a jazz and blues singer so I also like standards for reception music.

First dance is probably going to be Harvest Moon (Neil Young) or Crazy Love (Van Morrison).

I can't decide on a processional. I think I want my musical partner (guitarist) to play a version of a Beatles song but I can't decide just what yet... Smiley smile

We are using Ain't that a kick in the head by Dean Martin as the recessional and Can't help falling in Love ( Elvis Presley) - but using the Haly Reinhart version. for the bride processional.

ETA: I missed the part about 80's songs we have Take Me home tonight by Eddie Money as the last dance, and the way you make me feel by Michael Jackson as the grooms / groomsmen processional. Our first dance isn't really an 80's song but comes from an 80's themed movie Grow old with you by Adam Sandler ( The wedding Singer)

We are using All You Need is Love by The Beatles as our recessional song, and a cover of Sweet Child O' Mine for the father daughter dance. I grew up listening to Guns N' Roses on repeat with my dad, and The Beatles with my stepdad, so both have significance!

I tried suggesting Simple Man for mother-son dance, but FMIL wasn't digging it. Serious bummer, that's one of my faves!

We had a solo violinist for the ceremony/cocktail hour. DH walked to Here Comes Your Man by the Pixies, I walked to I Will by the Beetles. Violinist also played Bohemian Rhapsody, Blackbird, Imagine, All You Need is Love. Our cake cutting was to Queen's You're My Best Friend. Our reception entrance song was Just like Heaven by the Cure-That was DH's choice. He was an 80's kid, I wasn't Smiley smile
