Ring update — i think i know what I’m going to do

L, on July 20, 2020 at 2:54 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 18

Posting again with an update:

As I said before, I'm getting married in 2022, and my fiancée bought me this ring set to wear now.
I was going to wear it on my right hand, but it’s too small, so she wants me to wear it on my left where it fits.
I’m thinking about getting them soldered together and having this be my everything ring. Thoughts?
We’ve talked, and I don’t want to get them sized because it would ruin the engraving, and that costs money which I don’t really have.Ring update — i think i know what I’m going to do 1

That is gorgeous!! Does it have stones on the bottom or is it plain metal? If it’s plain metal it can be resized up or down for not too much by any jeweler. It’s a fairly common thing to have done.

Thank you! No stones on the bottom...Quote from a jeweler was $100 per ring to size it up, which is a lot of money!

I wouldn’t wear anything on my ring finger that wasn’t my engagement or wedding ring, but that’s personal preference.

This might be an upgrade. But it still has the whole bridal set look to it which is what throws me.

Hmm, yeah. Personally I feel like I’d save and have the ring set fit to the RH before wearing the items together.

However, people do all kinds of different things so I don’t think it’s an issue to wear what you were gifted where it fits as long as your SO doesn’t have an issue with it looking like you’re married when you aren’t quite get.

Her response was “why does that matter?”/“what’s so bad about looking like you’re married when we are getting married!” She’s the one who wants me to wear it on my left hand since I can’t on my right.

Check with a different jeweler. Shouldn’t cost $100 to size

This matters to some people for different reasons, preference or even religious. You did ask us if what you should do - just providing a perspective for you. Since you’re both in agreement I say wear it comfortably and enjoy the set.

I think that’s a great idea and having them soldered together it’s going to be such a beautiful ring in one piece 😍

Ugh - so sorry, I completely misread your comment back the first time around. I saw this email again scrolling through my inbox and realized you said "Her response was..."

I somehow missed that and thought you were asking why it mattered in my previous response. Total jerk response, my apologies for that. I see you've since made the decision to wear it. It's gorgeous and you should totally enjoy it. All the best.

This is beautiful!! Will soldering it not affect the engraving?

That is definitely a beautiful set!!! A few years before I got married (i was just dating my husband at the time) I used to wear a heart shaped ring on my left hand. I knew we would eventually get married so that's part of the reason I wore it. Prior to dating him, I didn't wear a ring on my left hand. But, i took it off at some point because i wanted my finger to be available for his proposal, haha. I would say if you know you're going to get married or if people think you already are, it's not a big deal. It's a beautiful gift so why not wear it?!
