Ring is too big!

Lillie, on July 19, 2017 at 12:08 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 49

Hi! So I just got engaged this past weekend and my ring is about half a size too big. Should I get it sized down or get a ring guard? My mom thinks that I should get a ring guard for now so when I get pregnant and my fingers swell I can still wear my ring. I just don't want the guard to take away from my ring!

I would get it resized... Pregnancy takes up a small portion of the rest of your life. I don't think you should let that determine your ring size. Plus not everyone's fingers swell.

Get it sized. A too-big ring is one of the most annoying things in the world. Like PP says, pregnancy takes up a significantly small percentage of the rest of your life.

My mom's hands swell a lot, and when she needs to, she wears her wedding set on her pinky.

Resized. You're risking loosing your ring when it's too big.

I got a retainer! It came in a pack of 12. Super easy to use and no one ever sees it. I didn't want to get it resized. My fingers are super small now, but I doubt they will be forever. I didn't want to start getting it sized now, and then have to do it again later. Don't want to mess it up! The pack was like $4 on Amazon.

I'd definitely get my ring resized! And normally when you purchase the warranty/protection plan resizing & cleanings are free.

    I would get it resized.

If you decide to leave it, make sure you get it insured. I mean, you should anyway, but when it's the wrong size, it's a big risk of being lost.

I got my ring resized a half size down and probably could have went even smaller. On some days it's still too big but I am paranoid about losing my ring so I would resize it if I was you

Resize it. You run the risk of losing it if it's too loose.

Resize! I had the same problem and wore it for a week with a plastic ring guard. I was petrified it would fall off the whole time.

I was thinking of getting the beads (a couple friends have them and love them, plus I figured it'd be more of a same day type fix vs a couple days for sizing) and our jeweler told us the beads don't really accommodate for a 1/2 size diff (which was where I was at). Maybe your jeweler has different beads or sizes but it may not be a fix. In general they say you can resize a ring (depending on the bad and if you have anything going on in it) two times. After that it's likely you'd need a new setting just due to the changes the metal has already gone under. We resized once and will resize if need be after kids. Worst case you wear them around your neck for a few months/different finger. But I'd definitely resize it now and if not make sure that puppy is insured!!!

Get it resized. It should be part of the purchase. Those beads on the inside of the ring look like torture devices!

Mine was too big I got it resized. Many of my friends who have been pregnant just got a cheap band at like target when their fingers swelled.

Get it resized. I know quite a few people who have been pregnant end up wearing their ring on a chain or just not at all while they are prego. Plus I think the ring guard would take away from your ring & I would worried about loosing it too.
