Ring Bearer Question

Paige, on October 21, 2015 at 4:26 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 25

This sounds like a silly question, but do people still have the ring bearer carry the pillow with the rings? I have seen photos of ring bearers holding cute signs instead. Are the pillows necessary? Any advice?

We are having FH's children (ages 12 & 9, the younger is autistic, so the less complicated his duties, the better) carry a sign that says, "Dad, here comes your girl". My nephews (both age 4) are each carrying a ring on a different display. FH ring will be on a motorcycle https://www.etsy.com/listing/177575757/motorcycle-ring-holder-ring-pillow-ring?ref=hp_mod_rf

& mine will be on a baseball.

We're having a little box with our names engraved. I also considered having him carry up a bible with a ribbon tied around it, but that's obviously up to you. Could use another special book, a little basket, or a vintage ring box (some cute ones on Etsy!)

I fully intended to have our ring bearer carry the ring but on the day before our wedding I was told most don't carry it so he just carried a pillow.

@Paige ~ I haven't seen many ring bearers carrying pillows lately. More often I've seen more and more cute signs ~ as @Rachel mentioned.

That is a good question though - do ring bearers still hold the real ring these days???

I'm having the pillow, but he will not be holding the real rings. Most pillows come with fake decorative rings on them.

They can carry anything you want, but don't give them the real rings.

Personally, I hate the signs, especially, "it's your last chance to run". Ick.

They sure can! But my favorite modern twist is the ring security. I think that is so adorable!

Ours was 2 years old and he carried the pillow with fake rings. There's no way he would have been able to manage a sign, he ran half way down the aisle to someone he didn't know and she had to put him back in the middle of the aisle until he saw his dad at the end with the lollipop bribe and then he skipped down the aisle! I still haven't seen it but I heard everyone laughing and then clapping so I can't wait to see the video of this! All the pics we have of him are blurry because he was moving too fast so i'm hoping the pro pics will be better of him too!

I was MOH for a wedding where her nephew carried the real rings tied on a pillow... He has autism so once he got down to us his dad was pretty quick to get him. He got him before we were able to get the rings from him. It left me and the best man looking at each other with no idea what to do. Luckily we were able to grab them during the unity sand ceremony. The brides mother had to help us untie them though because we couldn't get both of them untied.

We aren't having a ring bearer. My daughter is going to do both that and the flower girl. I found rose shaped ring boxes for her to carry.

Ours is carrying a small metal briefcase and ring security badge. And I made a sticker for the side of it that says "Ring Security, don't worry ladies, I'm still single"...he's our 19 month old son.

My 6 (will be 7) year old brother will be our ring bearer honestly I'm thinking about making a pillow or a box.... I feel weird having him carry fake rings.... I guess my thought is whats the worst that can happen they will be tied with a ribbon and he will be 7 not 2....

In my opinion the sign is kinda weird... IDK i'm not super traditional i love the ring security.

I think you can do whatever you want. The only thing I would really advise is that if you want to do the pillow and rings bit is to perhaps either wait to give him the ring until the second he heads down the aisle or give him "pretend" rings and have an adult have the real ones. It would depend for me on whether he was very young or not. A responsible older child I would feel better about giving the rings to than a toddler.

Not sure what our RB will be carrying (he's only going to be 18 months) I'm not sure if he'll even walk down the isle. I'm hoping his mom who is one of my bridesmaids will coax him down. The best man will be holding our rings.

Our RBs are my little brother who is 7 and little cousin who will be 5 and they will be escorting our FGs down the aisle, I might have my brother carry a little box but the best man will have the actual rings.
