Ridiculous wedding questions

Okay… I can’t be the only person who has gotten a question from someone about my wedding that made me think, “WTF is wrong with you?” Today, one of my coworkers asked me when my wedding was; I said October. Today, one of my coworkers asked me when my wedding was; I said October. His (completely serious) response: “Wow, you’re really dragging this out. Are you sure you want to marry him?”

Who says that?! Even if I wasn't… I certainly wouldn’t be discussing it with you!

For background, I got engaged last June, so will be engaged 16 months by the time we get married, which I don’t think is particularly excessive.

At first I was annoyed, but now I’m mostly just amused by it. So, I figured I’d open this up to other people and hopefully get some other funny stories: What is the most ridiculous/inappropriate thing someone has asked or said to you regarding your wedding?

Dminted: I get that too, but in a different form. My mom keeps poking me in the side of my belly and saying i need to lose that to fit in any wedding dress. Geez, its not like im 600 pounds!

Dminted*Bride: 'The worst one I've gotten: "You're gonna lose some weight before the wedding, right?" '

ouch! this is my 2nd time, and the first time I had 2 surgeries and not a good recovery during the engagement. my doctor wanted me to call the whole thing off, but since most was already planned and done, I said no.

he made me SWEAR I wouldn't diet or try to loose weight.

people knew this and I STILL got comments like that one!

seems that no matter what there's always someone with the social skills of a grapefruit!

I had FH sil tell me I wasn't following the family tradition because all 3 of his brothers waited 9 or so years to marry there wives and we will be married at 5yrs. I honestly feel like an outsider with them since then have known one another from the beginning. FH has no sister just brothers

I feel ya ladies.. I was at a craft store getting the supplies for the centerpeices and the clerk asked me why I needed all the glass vases for with the rocks.. I didnt think nothing of it but small talk. I said "oh I am getting married in Oct and this is for my centerpeices. She then proceeds to tell me she dont understand why every one is having babies and getting married it was all such a waste. And the lady behind me chimes in "oh I am divorced and I have lived with my guy for 15 years, we are just happy at that, I am never getting married." MY reply to the lady behind me was "that is all good and well, it is your life you do as you please. this is mine and I will do the same." I looked at the lady in front of me and said " By the way was your mother and father married.." she said yes and they still are. "well they made that choice to be married and be happy. And by the looks of it they choose to have you as well.. Well lookie there.. isnt it funny how life happens."

I haven't had anything as bad as some of you ladies, but my mom will "remind" me that I should work on toning my arms and tummy since my dress is fitted and strapless. My dress is a 4 petite, I can only be so small! Sheesh!

Geez. I can't believe some of the comments people have gotten from friends and family. My socially awkward coworker is one thing but you'd like to think those close to you would be a little less clueless.

And Tara, I love your response!

Someone asked me if I was pregnant, I said no, then the blabber mouth asked again why I was getting married. So I answered her "I didn't know that from your village being pregnant is a requirement for a marriage license" has not spoken to me since.

My fiance and I will be engaged for almost three years by the time we get married. We are paying for it ourselves, and I want to finish school first too. But I get this kind of stuff all the time. I always think really, why does it matter it's our decision we can do it whenever we want! Lol. People are just ridiculous. Haha. Try not to let it bother youSmiley smile

The most inappropriate thing I was asked was by a friend who wanted to know if her 18 year old son would be able to drink beer at the reception (our state drinking age is 21). Seriously?????
