Revisiting venue

Kaitlin, on February 12, 2020 at 3:36 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 5
So our wedding venue has been booked for several months but we have not been to see it for over a year! this weekend we are going with our parents to revisit the venue and take photos and get a better idea of how we want to set everything up for the big day!
What are some questions you wish you would have asked so we can better prepare. i can contact the venue any time i’m just hoping to not be that annoying bride that has a new question everyday 🤣

Can you store decor there? What time can setup start?

I would also be aware of any fees e.g. cake cutting, corkage, etc.

Bring measuring tape, pen and notepad! Just in case. Ask if you can use any decor that other weddings may have left there.

I just re-visited my venue the other weekend! Here are the main things we talked about (sorry this is sooo long!)
    1. Parking / Transport - Can guests leave their cars overnight if they end up drinking and not wanting to drive home?
    2. Rain Plan - Especially important if any part of your wedding is outside! If they have an alternate indoor space you can use, try to actually see it! And ask what other couples who’ve used the space have done re: flowers, decor etc.3. Accessibility for elderly guests - we literally walked the entire route around the venue that my grandma would take from arrival pre- ceremony to departure post- reception. This was so helpful to do in- person because as her close family, we know what she’s capable of and what she isn’t. Also ask about special seating for anyone who can’t use the regular chairs!4. Day of - figure out when you’ll have access to the venue, will you be able to get ready there, will vendors be setting up and where, could this impact first look photo locations etc.5. Just straight up ask the vendor contact if there are any other things you need to do that you have not talked to them about / might not be aware of. We found out we needed to rent a dance floor to go on the terrace where our reception is being held - never would have thought of that myself.
