return addresses on back of invitations..?

I hope they send the rsvp back. David's bridal printed our address on the back of the rsvp envelopes.

Its not the postal service, its the machine that reads and sorts the mail. The way it is supposed to work is, it scans the envelope, identifies the top left corner, reads the center as the "mail to" addess and sorts according to that. So it really depends...if it goes in the machine faceing the right way it will read that mail to address correctly, if it goes in the wrong way and the address is on the back instead of the upper left where it belongs it will identify the return address as the "mail to" address and you will get them mailed to you. There really isn't anyway for you to control it. it might not happen, it might happen to only a few, it might happen to all of them.

You should be okay to put the stamp on the back. They only need a return address if there's a problem with delivering it to the recipients address

All of my STDs had the return address printed on the back flap. All but one was delivered, and that was because my friend gave up her PO box. Should have been forwarded, but wasn't.

@Kimi I also started stamping my address on the flap of the rsvp envelop and got scared it would not get to me. My question is since I don't need to put the recipient's address on the envelop (because they are being hand delivered) is it a problem that the only address being mine is on the flap and the stamp on the other side?

I bought a stamp for our return address as well and stamped it on the back center of the envelope flap. To my knowledge, they all got through the mail fine. I was going to also use the stamp to address the RSVP cards to us but I didn't think it looked right for those, so I printed simple labels with our address for the front of the RSVPs.

It should be fine. Unless they need to return the envelope to you, they don't need the return address.

I ALWAYS put return addresses on the back flap of an envelope. Bills, thank you cards, invitations etc. I've never had one returned to me. I also used to work as a rural letter carrier for five years. Many, many, many people put return addresses on the back of the envelope. No worries!

I worried about this same issue. Another bride put them on the back and some invites came back to them...

But I did stamp my rsvp envelopes...hope they get back to us!

I have mailed countless things (invites, thank you's, Christmas cards, letters) all with the return address stamped on the back. Yes in theory the machine could read it wrong, that has happened to a few brides in here. But it is rare, many people send things with the return address on the back with no issues.

I put my address stamp on the back of my STD envelopes. They went out no problem, and I had two that were return to sender due to address and they made it back to me.

I receive mail all the time with the return address on the back flap - shouldn't be a problem. We'll likely do the same with the custom stamp to save our hands.

I mailed all of our Save the Dates and invitations with the return address on the back flap. We bought a cute stamp too, and I love that thing. It worked fine for us.

I also send mail out through the college that I work at, and we always order fancy stationary with the return address on the back flap for special events. I never considered that it might be a mailing problem, because we've never had an issue.

@tatiana, if I am understanding you: your address (that you need the RSVP sent to) is on the back flap and not on the side with the stamp. I would say yes this is a problem. The deliver to address should be on the front with the stamp. In theory, no address so they return it to the return address, in practicality, that one STD I had returned took 2.5 MONTHS! I wouldn't risk it, just stamp your address on both sides.

If you have a real concern I would call your local post office. I was planning on stamping ours on the back since FH has a really long last name.

We sent our save the dates with the return address stamped on the back. As far as I know everyone received theirs.

All of my RSVPs have come back just fine. And my invitations made it to there destinations.
