Restaurant Catering

Danielle, on April 14, 2019 at 12:18 PM Posted in Florida Planning 0 6

My fiancé and I are considering having our wedding catered by a restaurant because we can't justify paying $35/per person for mediocre wedding food. Does anybody have any restaurant suggestions for caterers in the Orlando, Florida area? Also, does anybody know if any caterers allow you to bring your own catering "staging" props and they'll serve it on them for you? I see all these pictures on Pinterest of just simple food like pizza but it looks awesome because of how its displayed rather than just being in those metal warming containers.

I'm also open to suggestions if anyone knows of any Florida caterers who do cool spreads like maybe a taco or pizza station.

Thank you!

    Hi Danielle,

I do not have any suggestions about Orlando caterers, but my caterer is providing the main buffet serving things and I am to provide any decorations for the table. Do you have any restaurants you really love there and think your guests would love them too? Maybe you could start there. Definitely price it out, you may be surprised! We had some places up here that did like wood-fired pizza, but we ended up finding a caterer that would work with our budget.

    Good luck!

Any qualified caterer can do whatever you want. I'd do a search on TheKnot.com or Weddingwire.com (these may be a bit pricey, but you may get lucky). Also, yelp has a great listing of Orlando caterers: https://www.yelp.com/search?find_desc=Catering+Companies&find_loc=Orlando%2C+FL

Be sure you call them and get some kind of quote (send an email telling them what you want) and as well, get a food tasting beforehand. Ask how many servers, do they include chaffing dishes to keep food hot, eating dishes, utensils, (you should purchase your own fabric napkins from efavormart.com). Some even provide tablecloths and glasses if need be. So, keep these things in mind if you need them and realize that this will affect the overall cost. Best of luck!

    Hi there!

Great advice from both previous posters.

If there is a restaurant's you and your Fs love, have you reached out to see if they would cater a wedding?

The WeddingWire vendor search is a great place to search for caterers and also reach out for pricing and more information.

Unfortunately, there is no way to filter by restaurants who also cater, however, a quick read of their storefronts should give you that information!

I’m sure they wouldn’t mind using some of your style and decor for presenting food. You can discuss this with them and confirm, however, I would imagine they would be cool with this!

But, like Jessica said - I’d price it out. Get quotes from a couple of caterers & restaurants. When you get the budget for a restaurant that caters - you may have to add in the cost of renting chaffers, dishes, silverware, etc.

I lucked out, because my sister is an event manager at a hotel & can provide us with chaffers, heat lamps, etc. for free.
